Now that the dust has settled on the 2010 midterm elections, its slowly becoming clear just how monumental the results really are. We saw an extreme left-wing agenda suffer a crushing defeat. At the ballot box, voters took Obamacare and the stimulus and wrapped them right around the necks of those same House members and senators who had arrogantly dismissed the concerns voiced in countless town halls and Tea Party rallies up and down the country. Voters sent commonsense conservatives a clear mandate to hold the line against the Obama agenda.
Does that mean Republican candidates can look forward with greater confidence to the 2012 elections? Yes and no. Yes, objectively speaking the next electoral cycle should be even more favorable than the one that just ended. A large number of red-state Democratic senators will have to defend their seats; and since Obama will be at the top of the ballot that year, they wont be able to hide from the fact that their party leader is a detached liberal with a destructive tax-and-spend agenda. Whether Republicans will do as well as they did in this cycle depends on whether they learn the lessons from the 2010 election.
The first lesson is simple: Set the narrative. This year it wasnt too difficult to tell the story of the election: It was about stopping an out-of-control Congress and an out-of-touch White House. In races across the country, Republican candidates ran on the message that the Left was bankrupting America with budget-busting spending bills that mortgage our childrens future, burden the private sector with uncertainty, and cripple our much-needed job growth.

Election doesn’t end major discord for GOP, Obama
By CHARLES BABINGTON, Associated Press
WASHINGTON Barely an hour after President Barack Obama invited congressional Republicans to post-election talks to work together on major issues, the Senate’s GOP leader had a blunt message: His party’s main goal is denying Obama re-election.
In a sign that combat and the 2012 elections rather than compromise could mark the next two years, Sen. Mitch McConnell on Thursday called for Senate votes to repeal or erode Obama’s signature health care law, to cut spending and to shrink government.
“The only way to do all these things it is to put someone in the White House who won’t veto any of these things,” McConnell said in a speech to the conservative Heritage Foundation.
The Senate Republican leader’s confrontational tone was in sharp contrast to the posture Obama took Wednesday in the face of a new GOP-controlled House and Republican gains in the Senate. Obama followed up Thursday morning by inviting Republican and Democratic congressional leaders for talks on Nov. 18 and challenging his own Cabinet to make Washington work better.
“I want us to talk substantively about how we can move the American people’s agenda forward,” Obama said of the upcoming meeting with lawmakers. “It’s not just going to be a photo op.”
Amazing photo. I think I’ll save it. *wink*
Yep, my new desktop photo as well.
IMO, the dimocreeps are going to ratchet up the voter fraud unless we stop them and legally shackle them to the point where our elections are free and honest again. Many of the dims are in office because someone "found" some ballots somewhere when the dim was losing. Or, as in San Francisco when I was living in Benicia, someone found a huge box of Republican ballots floating in the Bay after the election was certified.
Not that I've read, and I have read her book. This is astute analysis regardless of whose pen it came from. It appears that some of her self-admitted rough spots with respect to public communication are being polished. And she had a very good election.
This is, after all, a private citizen with a Facebook account, and she's practicing some very artful politics at the moment. Fun to watch even if you're not one of her fans.
Boehner and McConnell should take Joe Wilson along with them and sit him squarely across the table from Obama.
She does have a way with words doesn’t she?
It seems some of you don’t read any of her Facebook Notes if you think this is unusual writing.
For that matter, did you read her earlier NRO piece about energy?
Or her WSJ OpEd on Cap & Tax that took out John Kerry with a single swat?
Yeah! I need a collection of Sarah pics to use as a screensaver so I can headplode liberals who pass by my monitor.
I’ll have to get ‘onyx’ real soon before the holidays;^)
I have an arsenal and I continue to reload...LOL.
