Meg Whitman couldn't win the governorship despite straddling the political middle

Despite or because of?

It's official....compared to the other states in the nation, California is severely retarded. Personally, I hope all the dependent parasitic leeches consolidate in CA. Then they can all suffer together.

Part of the reason, as Fiorina said in her concession speech Wednesday in Irvine, is that "we could not overcome the (2.3 million) registration advantage the Democrats have, particularly in Los Angeles."

Hogwash. She couldn't overcome the largely apathetic voters who are sick and tired of being given the choice between a communist and a terminally flawed big government Rockefeller Republican. There are 17,285,883 registerd voters in California. Only 44.2% of them bothered to vote. When the Republican candidate runs endless ads claiming they will oppose their party, advocates for the DREAM Act and repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell, won't denounce the global warming hoax and talks of how "green jobs" will save the economy, the thinking-class tunes out. Her backers and campaign advisors were the epitome of arrogance thinking they could overcome her horrendous record in California (HP/Lucent) if they just spent millions more. As Meg has proven, like Huffington and Checchi before her, money cannot buy elections in California.

To say that Fiorina is a conservative is a joke. She ran a campaign far left of Schwarzenegger and gave every indication she would act as a John McCain or Lincoln Chaffee "Republican."

Time to get our pitchforks and oust the GOP "leadership" that forced these worthless candidates. Note to Karl Rove: quit recruiting Democrats!

DITTO, with all of the other “very blue states” throughout the U.S.! What are the definitive answers to all of these “forever blue states” that contain majorities of foolish and ignorant voters, who will, never, ever, vote for commonsense solutions on all issues? I’m profoundly fed up with Massachusetts, which continues to be “all leftist, all of the time”, for more than sixty years and with no actual end in sight! I’m stuck in Massachusetts! Moving out of these leftist hellholes is the definitive answer to this ongoing and worsening problem, if you can afford to do so.

Meg Whitman couldn't win the governorship despite straddling the political middle ...

This is a no-brainer.

“we could not overcome the (2.3 million) registration advantage the Democrats have, particularly in Los Angeles.”

Precisely.
And it’s why we lost in Nevada and Colorado as well.
Immigration has tipped CA over.

Do amnesty again, and we would lose Texas, Florida and a few other states ... and the whole country.

A lot of people are painting NY and CA with a broad brush of Democrats holding strong against the tea party.

However, in NY, the Democrats did hold the Governor and two Senate seats against weak candidates, but the GOP added at least 5 and maybe 7 Congressional seats (out of 29, previously holding only 2 seats) as well as probably retaking the state Senate.

All that proves that California was the only state in the union to resist the Tea Party.

I hope the repubics can prevent any bail out of California! This is bullcrap! The only reason so many Latinos voted for the Brown Fossil was all his pending give-away programs! Screw this state! The Latinos, Unions and whack lefties got him elected so they can all balance the budget together! F ‘em!......

I know I'm echoing what others have said, but I'll say it anyway.

California is a lost cause. They are on their way to bankruptcy. But, the voters made their own bed, and they should lie in it.

The national Republican party should just abandon California, and be sure that the federal government doesn't end up bailing the state out.

It will be painful, but the situation will eventually correct itself.

Stupid CAGOP voters chose celebrity and big money over character and principle. They chose two McCain-endorsed RINOS who were slaughtered at the polls.

One thought they had their fill with Red Arnold. Apparently not. Its too much to ask them to nominate real conservatives there.

Memo to the Republican Party:

In California, limit financial support to House candidates in districts that are competetive. Retain every House seat possible and shoot for additional seats that seem within reach. DO NOT waste one more thin dime on statewide races of any kind, including presidential. To waste money on those races would be foolish, and donors need to keep their checkbooks slammed shut until you promise to cut off all financial assistance to statewide candidates in California.

Thank you.
