New York House Race Up for Grabs After Vote Error Found
Politics Daily ^ | November 6, 2010 | Staff

A tabulation error has thrown in doubt the election night victory of Rep. Tim Bishop on Long Island and given Republicans hope that they may add yet another seat to their new majority in the House of Representatives.

Officials in Suffolk County said the error, discovered Friday, shifted several thousand votes and erased Bishop's 3,500 vote margin. That put Republican challenger Randy Altshuler ahead by just under 400 votes in New York's 1st Congressional District. Bishop is seeking a fifth term in the district, which includes many of New York's beach communities.

Board of Elections Commissioner Wayne Rogers told the Associated Press the original numbers came in by telephone on election night and "must have been transcribed incorrectly" and fed into the computer system as figures were relayed through the system by intermediaries. The error turned up in a routine check of voting machine memory cards.

This is good. So, with Republicans controlling both the New York House and Senate people like Cuomo who slipped into office through questionable means will be going to jail, right?

“So, with Republicans controlling both the New York House and Senate”

Democrats retained the Assembly but Republicans appear to narrowly have taken the Senate (32-30) subject to absentee ballots.

“.. people like Cuomo who slipped into office through questionable means will be going to jail, right?”

What does this mean? Cuomo was elected in a landslide, there is no question about that.

Hold on... The “Oh, look!... I found a bag of ballots in the trunk of my car that need to be counted” democrat play has not been pulled yet. I believe that has happened in two races this time with the democrat coming out the winner after the mystery vote bag got counted.

Tim Bishop, one of the snottier reps who didn’t like the proles getting uppity with him at the town hall some months back.

I prayed he’d lose.

Probably was really an accident.

Election night returns are called unofficial for a reason.

Nice to see correction of an error benefiting a republican!

I have an even better conspiracy theory. We all know that Dems can cough up enough votes on demand, after the polls close, to pull an election over the finish line. So here’s the conservative counterstrategy. Overreport the Dem votes in your precinct...let all the Dem precincts cough up just enough votes to make their guy win, and THEN “discover” the error and correct the vote in the conservative precinct.

In this scenario, the overreporting precinct isn’t cheating in the sense of creating votes from thin air. Rather, they are just forcing the Rats to show their hand, before accurately reporting their own vote count.

Of course, my theory is total speculation, and I know nothing avout the specifics of this case.

They should be checking the rest of the elections too. How many ways a democrat can cheat?
