Sarah Palin Shows Her Feminist Stripes
NewsReal Blog ^ | Nov.8, 2010 | Suzanne Venker

Posted on 11/09/2010 7:45:26 AM PST by Rhonda Robinson

In an ever-changing society, one of the things we humans can depend on is that children don’t change. They come in to this world the same way they did one hundred years ago — with the exact same set of needs. Having a parent, particularly a mommy, at home to care for them is one of them.

But don’t tell Sarah Palin that. According to her, those who believe moms should stay home with their kids are “Neanderthals” who need to “get with it” and “evolve.”

Until now, I’ve been largely silent about Sarah Palin.

I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt because conservatives are in desperate need of a spokesperson. Sure, Palin’s unpolished and not what I would call an intellect – but neither was President Reagan. Indeed, there are other important qualities for public office besides intellect — as Barack Obama is proving in spades.

But as the author of two books on the subject of feminism, I cannot remain silent in light of Palin’s foolish comment on Fox. In response to why she thinks she was attacked so viciously during the 2008 campaign, Palin had this to say:

"There are still the Neanderthals out there who pick on the petty, little, superficial, meaningless things – like looks, like whether you can or can’t work outside of the home if you have small children – all those type of things where I would so hope that at some point those Neanderthals will evolve into something a bit more with it, a bit more modern, and a bit more understanding that, yeah, women can accomplish much."

VERDICT: Suzanne Venker is either to ignorant to grasp what is in her own 'handwriting', or she is deliberately lying, and thinks her readers are incapable of their own thought (she might be right about some of them).

BINGO!

I believe you should reread her statement. She clearly states or at least implies that women should have the option to work or stay at home with young children. The Apostle Paul writes otherwise.

I know it is not popular these days, but neither is Chastity.

It’s the 21st Century. If we don’t start admitting this, we’ll get left behind. Sorry, but I’m with palin on this one. If she can handle it, then who are we to tell women what they should and shouldn’t do?

Managed to get as far as this blather, and knew any further reading would be futile.

Book coming out soon -- get it linked to Palin by misquoting and/or taking her statements out of context.

How predictable some "authors" are.

I like how they are all kicking the cr@p out of her for hiking mountains and scaling glaciers on her new TV show.
When Teddy Roosevelt used to do those things it was the stuff of lore and legend.

The Apostle Paul was giving advice. He was not laying down Levite laws.

If we want to “know” Sarah Palin by her fruits let’s begin by noting that she is among the ten percent of women who are informed of a Downs pregnancy and does not terminate it. That fruit should carry lots of weight compared to working outside the home.

Paul also said that women should keep their heads covered in church and should remain silent in church if they have a question....and ask their husbands later....you fail to forget that Paul is also writing to a culture of his day....most women were uneducated and many were illiterate, and no business minded idea compared to men of that day..... So you have to divide culture and what God is saying today through the letters of Paul

Here here Pissant...I know we disagree on Palin but I don’t much cotton to her Girl Power talk

anyhow...the sound of feminism here is ridiculous...on the dupe thread there are women freepers sounding like Germaine Greer and the “evil 1950s” when were held back...damn man

how the left has brainwashed anyone under 40 who didn’t resist

the arrogance of youth...I had it once...it was hell to shake off

as a father to five...on my homepage Rhonda...I’d like to know more about your own view on this....are you in Middle TN?

She and her husband seem to have a great relationship and he appears to be her greatest supporter and encourager.
I think it’s between them to decide what she does or does not do outside the home.

It’s the 21st Century.

yeah...and that's the problem...our culture and values are in the tank compared to how it was 50 years ago when I was born...kids here only know what they have been taught by schools and culture unless their folks were diligent

we now tolerate social ills on a level folks in the 1940s and 50s would have never dreamed of...abortion and illegtimacy and sexualization of younger people just for starters

don't believe the hype that all was evil for women then

i saw an old survey comparative recently that 50 years ago women felt more satisfied with their lives and married couples had more sex then versus today...I think there is a thread on the latter...anyhow sounds good to me...I think women are definitely more conflicted today especially if they have secondary education...their instinct, hormones and egos are in a conflict of culture's making

I never said anything about it being ok to shun our responsibility as parents to our kids. But technology and women’s rights are something we cannot take back to the 50’s. It’s impossible, therefore we must adapt or risk the Conservative ideology being left behind. The last thing I want is the Leftist ideology taking over this country i so dearly love, therefore I’m willing to adapt to the times and refuse to complain about the state of things today. And make sure my kids are brought up the right way so the next generation has a fighting chance. That’s all I can do on my part.

I never said you did. I said our modern culture is rank compared to 50 years ago and having been there I stand by that. What many today think is normal is not and would not have been tolerated then.
