yes, but they’ve counted about 12,500 so far and he got 1200, right?

We don’t know how many of the “write in” votes are for the COW...so, it’s really impossible to say how many votes Joe needs.

Besides write-ins, there's also 30,500 absentee ballots to be counted. Miller only needs to get 13,439 out of the 30,500 to make his vote count exceed the number of write-ins, and this win the race.

You assuming that the cow doesn't get any of the remaining 16,061 votes that didn't vote for Miller. As much as I do not want to admit it, this race is over.

excerpt.....

Update, 4:07 p.m.:

There’s a new batch of statewide numbers. The state now reports having counted over 14,000 absentee and early ballots today.

Miller has gained a little bit of ground since the last absentee count. He now has 12,218 fewer votes than the write-in ballots.

That means he’s picked up 1,221 votes so far in today’s count.

There should be around 8,000 more absentees left to count today if the Division of Elections sticks to its original plan of counting about 22,000 of the absentee/early votes by the end of the day.

There were a total of more than 30,000 of such ballots received by the state. More absentee counts will be held next week.

Something's fishy. Is it that the overwhelming majority of absentee ballots are going to Murk, or they're being disqualified?

There's no excuse at all for what we do to our military when it comes to voting. We could easily setup a system where each service member is given a PIN number, or some other unique identifier and allow them to vote online. Such a system would probably even cost less than how it is being handled today, and there would be little potential for fraud if done properly.
Hear, hear!
Only trouble is, an internet voting system would be insecure - if not in the vote count, in the secrecy of the ballot. I wouldn't want to be in the military and have my CiC know that I voted against him . . .

Alaska Freeper ping! Hi Alaska friends! I sure hope Miller pulls off a nice win when all the ballots are counted!

Miller has gained over 1200 votes on Murkowski in the absentee ballots that have been counted so far today that we’ve seen reported on. So he is getting more of them than Murkowski.

“Hey doufous, I want Miller to win as much as anyone else. It’s not my problem that math is not your strong point.”

What has math got to do with it? You don’t know how many of those write-in votes are valid and and how many were for Murkowski.

“It’s not my problem that math is not your strong point.”

Neither is logic yours, Carnak.

“Hey doufous, I want Miller to win as much as anyone else.”

Do you really? The silver lining for you Palin haters is that you think it will damage her. After she dragged Joe Miller across the finish line in the primary, against heavy odds, you compared her to a “loud mouth, late night TV huckster buffoon”:

“He ran against a loud mouth, late night TV huckster buffoon”

Which is pretty much my opinion of McCain’s biggest supporter.... Sarah Palin.

Okay doufous..... So I support DeMint over Palin and her buddy John McCain. Who by the way should still be pulling the knives out of the back of J.D. Hayworth.

Secondly, Show anywhere where I have said anything negative about Miller. So much for your "logic". BTW....what other special powers do you have. /s

yes, but they’ve counted about 12,500 so far and he got 1200, right?

The totals as of Nov 2 were:

Precincts Reporting 438 100.0 %
Times Counted 213310/494876 43.1 %
Total Votes 211147
Carter, Tim NA 751 0.36%
Gianoutsos, Ted NA 360 0.17%
Haase, Fredrick LIB 1160 0.55%
McAdams, Scott T. DEM 49733 23.55%
Miller, Joe REP 73309 34.72%
Write-in Votes 85834 40.65%
After counting a bunch of absentees, the counts are now
Write-In Votes 91,049	40.35%
Joe Miller (R) 79,492	35.23%
Scott T. McAdams (D)	52,694	23.35%
Fredrick Haase (L)	1,238	0.55%
Tim Carter (NP)	792	0.35%
Ted Gianoutsos (NP)	383	0.17%
The earlier assumption was that there wouldn't be much write-ins for Merk among the absentees, since presumably they were sent in before she announced her write-in campaign, that the absentees would be mostly between Miller and the Dem. It looks like there ARE a bunch of absentee write-ins.

Here’s some info on write-ins versus Miller vote from earlier in the day.

So Miller has picked-up 6,183 absentee votes to 5,215 for write-in. So he is behind write-in votes by about 11,000.

Says “netted” vs. “gross.”

I’d presume this means he’s gained 914 relative to others, but who knows. The original post in this thread is more rohrshack than reporting.

Did I miss where they said how many write in votes went to M. If that number was high they would be telling everyone how many more she got....

Did you see the video released over the weekend of a Federal Contractor at a Federal facility in Alaska telling the employees they all needed to vote for Murkowski because she is on the committee that their jobs all depended on?

What about the military absentee ballots? They said they were still coming in this morning.

I didn’t know that. I thought all the valid votes were secured. Is it a significant number or a trickle? The announcemnt that was made, made it sound like all the votes were in. IF that is not the case, then the contest is still winnable

>>> Did you see the video released over the weekend of a Federal Contractor at a Federal facility in Alaska telling the employees they all needed to vote for Murkowski

This is effectively just one more commercial. And by then they’d have heard hundreds pro and anti. In the ballot booth the people still vote as they please.

A couple weeks ago there was a similar dustup over some business establishment (Walmrt?) telling its employees to vote republican. I didn’t think that was much of a big deal either for the same reason.

And either way, it’s not something the candidate did.
