Blanco responds to Bush's criticisms in memoir (and lies about Hurricane Katrina)

*snip*

The Katrina chapter expresses Bush's clear frustration with then-Governor Kathleen Blanco, who refused to federalize the National Guard for the incident.

“I did not need the federalization of the Guard because that would've taken police powers away from the National Guard. And goodness knows, we needed that,” she said.

Bush said on Oprah, “I said to the governor, give me the authority to send in federal troops. By law, the president cannot send federal troops to conduct law enforcement without a declaration of insurrection."

An insurrection declaration would've given the military police powers.

“He didn't discuss that with me. He didn't discuss it in that frame ever. It was a one-way conversation with the president and his advisers, not including anyone from Louisiana,” Blanco said.

Bush is such an unbelievable freaking looser.

Here is a guy that has the truth, the evidence and the undeniable, documented facts on his side and STILL he bows in defeat for the sake of being gracious and above it all.

Well you aren’t above it all, you are a coward and a disgrace for not standing up for yourself and the TRUTH.

Just please shut up and go away....

ex-Governor Kathleen Blanco>>>>>

A stone cold liar and incompetent. Generations of corrupt, bribed, Democrat hacks gave New Orleans a useless system of levees and dikes and Blanco is fine example of this type

Three days after the levees were breached, Democrat pukes in Louisiana and DC started laying it all off on George Bush. I was amazed because this was due to city and state failures not some far off power in DC

Total lies. If you’re not totally buzzed or drunk,
it would be wise to read the dang thread before
you kneejerk into zombieland and embarrass yourself.

Blanco is a liar. I explained this to an ex girlfriend of mine from Britain because she could not understand how come federal aid just sat there in trucks.

Her lawyers should’ve known it, even if she didn’t. I don’t trust her; her state is in shambles and she needed 24 hours to make a decision? It was all politics on her part.

Blanco, Mary “Land-drew” and other cronies had a get togather in New Orleans when President Bush arrived in Baton Rouge to help address the Katrina problem. This POS governor of Louisiana made no attempt to greet the President.

The fault for 95% of the Katrina problem rests with dirty Louisiana elected critters.

I recall that she was hard to convince, even by other governors, that she should take the troops they were offering from their states.

She made the situation 1000 times worse ..with pure incompetence and despicable politics in a catastrophe.

It was really her responsibility as I recall, and Bush tried to do something because she sat on her hands as did the mayor of New Orleans. I never thought any of this was Bush's fault.

It surely is .. and what a mighty weight it was
that he handled with such devotion, focus,
dignity, class and compassion .. and still does.

http://newsbusters.org/node/2072:

“A key criticism, the governor’s slowness in requesting federal troops. She told the President she needed help, but it wasn’t until Wednesday that she specifically asked for 40,000 troops. That day, in a whispered conversation with her staff caught on camera, the governor appears to second-guess herself.”

Blanco: “I really need to call for the military.”

Unidentified female aide: “Yes, you do. Yes, you do.”

Blanco: “And I should have started that in the first call.”

****************

That makes more sense; I just misunderstood. She procrastinated, not refused.

What I said from jump - it was a local responsibility, not a federal one. None of my brilliant friends could understand the idea.

Why is it then that ONLY Kathleen Blanco had such a large magnitude of trouble and not the neighboring... umm.... REPPUBLICAN GOVERNORS. It seems as though only Blanco and Nagin (both Democrats) seemed to have had the trouble.... ummm..... GOVERNING!!!!

Sound familiar?
