Dana Milbank: Bill O'Reilly wants my head
The Washington Post ^ | 10 November 2010 | Dana Milbank

Posted on 11/10/2010 8:49:37 AM PST by Senator Goldwater

On Thursday night, O'Reilly asked, as part of a show that would be seen by 5.5 million people: "Does sharia law say we can behead Dana Milbank?" He then added, "That was a joke."

The next night, O'Reilly read a complaint from one of his viewers, Heidi Haverlock of Cleveland, who said: "I thought the joke about whether sharia law would allow the beheading of the Washington Post guy was completely inappropriate."

O'Reilly replied: "Well, let me break this to you gently, Heidi. If Dana Milbank did in Iran what he does in Washington, he'd be hummus."

O'Reilly's on-air fantasizing about violent ends for me was precipitated by a column I wrote describing Fox News's election-night coverage as a victory party for the Republicans. This didn't strike me as a terribly controversial point, but it evidently offended O'Reilly. "He said there were no Democrats except for Schoen on," O'Reilly complained. "It was an outright lie."

That would have been an outright lie, except that I said no such thing. I wrote: "To be fair and balanced, Fox brought in a nominal Democrat, pollster Doug Schoen. 'This is a complete repudiation of the Democratic Party,' he proclaimed."

Though I didn't claim Schoen was the sole Democrat, in hindsight I should have quoted other putative liberals who appeared on Fox that night - and sounded much like Schoen. There was Bob Beckel, proclaiming: "I feel like the blind guy whose guide dog died" and "I give all the credit to Republicans on this." Or Juan Williams on President Obama: "I just don't think he gets it."

O'Reilly has every right to quarrel with my opinion or question my accuracy. But why resort to intimidation and violent imagery?

Let's drop the thuggish tactics - before more people get hurt.

Self-important whiny liberal alert.

This silly self-infatuated clown can not honestly believe that O’Reilly’s remarks really offer the remotest possibility of actual harm to his sniveling person, does he?

Well, considering that it's Dana Milbank, delusional left-wing drama queen, perhaps the answer is “yes.”

Why not? O’Reilly managed to demonstrate beyond dispute that a wus is a wus is a wus.

Yeah, I know that O'Reilly is a combination analyst/entertainer, not a serious journalist, and that self-promotion is a big part of his schtick.

But I still think that some of this stuff just demeans himself and gives unnecessary attention to guys like Milbank. And believe me, they LOVE getting the publicity.

O'Reilly's on-air fantasizing about violent ends for me

Millbank will be dining out on this for years. Libs love nothing more than being threatened with death from people who are joking.

I can't read this dork's name without seeing his pathetic, chubby mug dressed in hunting gear the night Cheney accidentally got shot--oh, but ACTUAL victims of accidents, they're targets for jokes; ACTUAL jokes about violence, now, that's serious.

Dana Milbank is a dishonest fool.

Wonder what he would say about Ted Rall’s open advocacy for rebvolution?

All I hear are crickets.

Dana Milbank still has wet pants because 5.5 million people heard his name. Oh, the glory.

I admit to watching O’Reilly almost every evening but for this reason, not for him , but I like his guests like Dennis Miller and Bernie Goldberg for two. As much as I can't stand Marc Lamont Hill, O’Reilly stands toe to toe with him and usually comes out on top. By the way, if you watched last night, Marc was putting down Christie (Gov.of NJ) about his size and weight and looks etc. and saying he could never be president because of his looks. If that is true, if Hillary ever runs against Michelle Bachmann or Sarah Palin, she is a goner. LOL
