I just wish they would have let me invest my own SS payments.

“Isn’t it time that a few Republicans started pointing out that Obama has already cut social security”

No, because we need to cut it more.

Take all drunks, druggies, extended family recipients and so called learning disabled (classified) kids off social security.

That would be a great start.

Here’s an idea. ~1 in 10 people in the US work for the Federal Government, not counting the Military. Make that ratio .5 in 10 and get back to us..

First, these cuts usually affect younger people not the current dependents.

Second, I would tell the old lady (if necessary to cut her benefit) that we don’t have the damn money because politicians spent it, that being the reality.

Well POTUS won’t make the cut that would effect his base. So Welfare is out.

What is it with these jokers? More taxes? Stupid, stupid, stupid! Cut federal worker salaries by 15% now! Cut federal retirees annuities over $20,000 by 10%! Reduce workforce in federal govt by 25% (offer early outs). Now we're talking. Leave the poor SS folks alone. Do not propose any new taxes at all! I say this as a federal retiree.

I don’t agree with your double dipping theory. That’s like saying an employee who contributed to 8 different employer 401K’s or Defined Benefit plans is 8 dipping. If I pay into social security for ten years that’s my money, my taxes, and my retirement. And no you don’t get to tell me I’m only allowed one pension. If you argue on the other hand that some of those pension systems are overly generous then I’d agree with you. But that’s an entirely different subject and I’m appalled at how young some folks can retire. A counter to that though is I certainly don’t object to the military 20. The military 20 has always seemed like a great recruitment tool whereby our vets can get two incomes and two retirements. I like it.

As someone who was hoping to get out of renting by buying a house after the first of the year, this simply makes me want to renew my lease through 2012 and hide the extra $$ in my mattress.

They really need to get Dr. Sidmon Azibo, Obama's Social Security Czar, to call everyone personally about this.

warning: language!

Never happen. Barack Hussein Obama wants to be reelected to badly. Cutting SS would be political suicide.

In India Obama told them that “outsourcing has never been a boogieman” for him. Now cutting back on social security is not a boogieman either. Boy, things sure get revealed when he is away. Heads will explode on Liberal talk radio if this word gets out.

Old people take the hits over and over.

I guess leftists don’t care if old folks can afford a can of dog food for themselves to eat.

agreed. I know 3 or 4 Calif gov retirees, who retired at age 55... living on 80,000 a year pensions. and these were just clerk type fellas... nuttin special..

I don’t get that.. I work for a for-profit company, and I don’t make that much.. and I’m paying their salary !

meanwhile, I doubt I can ever retire.

LOL - They saw the Riots in London, liked it, and think they have found a new way to change the news cycle away from their abject failure of an administration.
