Nicaragua invaded and assumed control of a small section of Costa Rica in late October. At first Nicaragua blamed the incursion on Google Maps. This farcical explanation belies the fact that Nicaragua has for years wanted the property on the other side of the San Juan River for its own canal from the Pacific to Atlantic. That project was originally dreamed up when Nicaragua was a Soviet Client state and a completed canal project would be a game changer. Currently the canal project is funded by Iran and Venezuela while Nicaragua is led by the same man that led the country during the cold war, Daniel Ortega.
This deliberately provocative action has elicited little more than a yawn from the US. Costa Rica has no standing army, so its response has been mostly diplomatic, through the Organization of American States (OAS). The OAS called for an immediate withdraw of Nicaraguan troops. Ortegas response was to state that the OAS is irrelevant and that the permanent councils vote was manipulated and a conspiracy. The only nation voting against the resolution for withdraw was Venezuela.
A foreign enemy working with anti US countries not far from our borders and our strategic interests has shades of Cuba 1962 written all over it. The US response to the Nicaraguan incursion currently only emboldens the two most anti US regimes in our hemisphere who are currently playing footsie with Iran. The state department even claims that it is unaware of any new canal being planned. The burgeoning problem is a ticking time bomb and our President has a choice. He can either act like Neville Chamberlain circa 1938 or John F. Kennedy Circa 1962. The fate of central american peace hangs in the balance.

“What is our central american strategy?”
Allowing them to all come here & vote Democrat.
Seeing that Obama delayed his National Security Strategy one year past the date required by law, I would bet that any Central American Strategy is “winging it” as situations arise.
The Honduras incident was eye opening.
Same as it is everywhere else: Unconditional Surrender.
“Winging it” is a kind euphemism. Obama is the dog that caught the fire truck. Governing is much tougher than criticizing.
Can someone explain how Chamberlain and Kennedy were different? Remember the Bay of Pigs?
Long before the first shovel of dirt is turned in a Nicaragua canal, the Panama Canal Expansion Project will be completed. This expansion includes a third traffic lane across the isthmus with locks that will be able to handle ships up to 1400 feet long and 180 feet wide. Even if Iran and Venezuela bankrolled the project it’d be a white elephant with little practical use.
Chamberlain refused to see the threat and didn’t have any guts for conflict. JFK saw the threat, thought he had the guts for conflict, but chickened out.
Our Central America strategy: NONE.
Our Iranian foreign policy: SURRENDER.
Our Muslim policy: SURRENDER.
Next question?
Allow me to be the first to say - “PISS ON NICARAGUA< AND OTS PEOPLE!”
After America managed to get rid of Danny Ortega, those third world, banana republic savages decided they preferred Danny Boy and his communism.
America needs a jungle warfare training area. I propose that we use Nicaragua for such a training area. Just declare the whole area a free fire zone.
My patience for those sheeple, who once saved from the burning barn of communism by us, insist on running back into their burning barn.
It is Roast Mutton time, I say!
Oopsie! They typo demon posted that, not me!
Typo was:
Allow me to be the first to say - PISS ON NICARAGUA< AND OTS PEOPLE!
It should be:
Allow me to be the first to say - PISS ON NICARAGUA, AND ITS PEOPLE!
Obama will support Nicaragua quietly. Lots of rich Americans live in captialist Costa Rica. Been looking at it myself.
You pretty much summed it up...
What is our central american strategy?
Support the Communist, oppose our allies, open all possible avenues for drug trade, and give away as much money as possible.
Any questions?
Well at first he tried it with Honduras too and lost against them in the international court and now he has went after Costa Rica because they have no standing Army and he didn´t really want to push his luck again in Honduras since he had already lost there...let´s hope that the UN puts a butt whopping on him this time...he really, really needs to get his tail kicked out of office.
Question asked by one of my history professors:
What is the ultimate, final, power in Central America?
Answers ranged over just about everything from the Church to the particular Central AMerican countries military.
We students were all wrong, said the professor.
The correct answer was, is, and a;ways will be:
The United States Marines!
He was right. Anyone living there should do so with eyes open. Costa Rica has nice land, but no military. Now that the US Marines are not funded, and with the Bamster squatting in the Oval Office, ‘tis little wonder Danny Boy took part of Costa Rica.
Why not, who will stop him?
