WASHINGTON -- Indiana Rep. Mike Pence, a potential GOP contender for the White House in 2012, says he'll make a decision after Jan. 1 about whether to enter the race.
Pence, who's stepping down as the No. 3 House Republican leader, says he's "humbled" by encouragement that he consider running.
He tells ABC's "This Week" that he'll seek guidance from God as he decides his political future.

It's not a question of "what I want", it's a matter of what is politically viable. History tells us quite convincingly that sitting Representatives virtually never secure their party's nomination, and when they do, they lose convincingly. That's just the practical political reality.
If you can't get elected from the House, then your only alternatives are either to become a governor, a Senator, or to enter private enterprise in some kind of leadership role. Those are Pence's options, and I suspect he'll choose door #1.
If Republicans still believe that a finger in the wind twit like Romney - creator or RomneyCare, or a finger in the wind nannystater like Huckabee - creator of ArKids and the elementary school fat tests are “viable”, then, once again, we’ll get what we deserve, and the slide to socialism will continue unabated.

Since Daniels is likely to run, Pence is likely out. Both won’t go ... the Indiana GOPers will want to get behind one candidate.

Pence’s weakness is on immigration. NumbersUSA has a grade card for him of only 71%.
By comparison, DeMint gets a 91%.
If we don’t end the mass importation of third worlders, we’re toast. This is a non-negotiable issue.

Seal the border, deport, and end mass legal immigration is the only sane immigration policy.
When’s the last time a 1/3rd term senator won the nomintion (and the presidency)? Oh, that’s right, he’s sitting in the Oval Office now.

When's the last time a 1/3rd term Senator won the nomination who was white? It still hasn't happened (at least in the modern era). Barack Obama broke the conventional wisdom for the same reason that his approval rating stays above 45%. He enjoys almost unanimous support amongst an entire demographic - black people. If Pence enjoyed 95% support amongst white males, then he could break convention too. But, he doesn't so he probably won't. That's called political reality.

You're ignorant because you get your information from random people on the internet instead of developing some critical thinking ability.
If Palin were devoted to becoming President (she's pretty obviously not) she would have remained governor, continued to build on her reformist credentials, made some targeted foreign trips, and delivered a series of policy speeches. In fact, she's done a little bit of the last, but that's it.
Her decisions make a great deal of sense through the lens of "what can I do to further conservatism and help Alaska and my family?" and not much sense in terms of "what can I do to get myself elected President?"
The ONLY strawman is the one that you keep putting up. It says that we must support a RINO because the RINO has credentials that you deem most appropriate.
Tell that to her cult, not me.

It seems that you've agreed that Pence and Romney are primarily dedicated to their dreams of the Presidency, while Sarah Palin is dedicated to advancing conservatism.
So why, if you claim to support conservatives, do you foster such hatred for Palin?

For your information, Palin and Pence are conservative. Romney was a moderate last week, but may have changed since then - I haven't checked.
Romney & Pence are both primarily dedicated to furthering their quests for the presidency. People like Palin, Coburn, DeMint are primarily dedicated to furthering conservatism and governmental reform. Marco Rubio is probably the best example of a pol with twin dedication to ambition and reform - a difficult balance.
