And they wonder why they are bankrupt.

Just don't ask the rest of the country to bail you out.

Well, I can go on record stating I’m one of the 38%.

Men in Black, by Mark Levin is apropos here. The legislating from the bench has to be stopped.

So, out of state citizens of the United States must pay the much higher out of state tuition rate, simply because they didn’t attend high school in CA?

Sounds more than passingly strange to me.

Jim Thompson? Why didn’t you say so? I thought he had relocated to Galt’s Gulch by now.

Notice how Mr. Chin “generously” noted that students from other US States can get in state tuition rates if they lived in CA for 3 years.. He said US citizens should get the same “rights” as illegals.

“Easy solution for out of state students, lie and say you are illegal.”

and when they ask you for documents.... say “I don’t have any, I’m illegal.”

brilliant!!

It seems that after this ruling that out of state students should demand the same rights as illegal aliens and pay only the in-state tuition rate. After all, isn’t equal protection under the law in effect here?

That's the part I do not understand, how can they tell someone from another state that they have to pay out-of-state tuition while undocumented aliens pay in state tuition. Would this be covered by the EQUAL PROTECTION CLAUSE Portion of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that prohibits discrimination by state government institutions. The clause grants all people "equal protection of the laws," which means that the states must apply the law equally and cannot give preference to one person or class of persons over another.

-—”....the state high court said a California law that guarantees the lower tuition for students who attend California high schools for at least three years and graduate does not conflict with a federal prohibition on giving illegal immigrants educational benefits based on residency...”-—

My head hurts.

Each of the three Supremes up for election each got about 70% of the vote (with 25-30% voting against them).
I think that “disapproval” rate is about the highest I’ve seen over the past decades
(except for the Rose Byrd’s of the world)

Educating invaders... somehow that seems a little like treason... I think I shall join your boycott.

As far as I’m concerned the only education we should be paying for in terms of theses illegal aliens is the education they get behind bars.

Actually, you raise a good question, facetious or not. I have not yet seen the entire opinion published online. But, it will be interesting to see if the opinion carves out any residency requirements for the illegals. If it doesn't, I'm not sure how they could deny your posited scenario.

"The lawsuit contended the California law usurped a federal prohibition on giving educational benefits based on residency to illegal immigrants but not all U.S. citizens."

But note the court's amazing sophistry. Instead of "residency" requirements, they have the requirement of attending Cal. high schools instead.

Where do illegal immigrant students get the money to attend college, even if they pay in-state tuition? Who's employing them, isn't that illegal? They supposedly aren't eligible for financial aid, right? And if their parents are paying, who's employing them, I highly doubt they're legal if their kid isn't.
