As a blind Muslim woman, Mona Ramouni has had to make do without a guide dog her whole life.
The 28-year-old's strictly religious parents would not allow a dog in the house, considering the animal unclean.
But then Miss Ramouni stumbled across a website article about miniature guide horses in April 2008.
'It was something that I never thought about for myself,' she said.
The psychology student used three years of savings from her job at a Braille proofreading company to pay for a horse to be trained to act as her guide.
Since welcoming three-year-old guide horse Cali into her Dearborn, Michigan, home last year, Miss Ramouni has seen her life turned around.

As the future King of England, and probably the world, my first act would be to declare her parents guilty of child abuse and to have them lashed 500 times in a public square and then to have a herd of small horses trample them to death as the crowds cheer! Of course, I’m just that kinda guy! Long live the King!
They have screen scanners for the blind. I saw my first in Italy in 1986. Pretty slick technology then - sure it has been improved.
Then explain why they have braille dots on the keypad at a drive-thru ATM machine?
I remember from an Oprah show when Michelle mentioned a future dog and also that Obie ate bacon...How much more proof do you need that he's not a muzzie???

Best guess PC decision to not get sued. Remember a few years back the blind guy sued UPS for not hiring him as a driver.
Is there not some exemption for dogs as working animals?
Dogs have been probably the most important working animal in history. The provided vital help in hunting, herding of animals, and protection long before even recorded history.
How did ancient Muslims heard sheep without the use of dogs? And if they were allowed to use them as working animals, wouldn’t that same logic apply to a seeing eye dog?

I drove blind parishioners to and from my dad's church. Once in awhile they asked to go to the bank and I pulled up to the drive-thru ATM so the rear passenger could use it.
Wouldn’t a guide camel be more appropriate?

Same way folks today do it in various countries. Couple of people and long poles or rods. I've seen lots of sheep herders, but never a fat sheep herder. I've seen kids doing it too - of course dogs help but are not necessary.

I kind of like the idea of a horse pooping in a Muslim house. People need to suffer the consequences of their ignorance. Pity the poor horse though, should it poop on a koran.
If this was a Christian woman denied a dog by her family based on religious grounds.....the Liberal Media would be attacking the family...and trying to put the family in jail....along with blaming all Christians, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, The Pope, Billy Graham, etc....
But, Muslims always get a pass on things like this. The Faith of Hate and the Cult of Insanity always gets a pass on such cruelty
