Clerks counting the final ballots said that, barring any legal challenges, they expect to know this afternoon who will represent the 8th Congressional District.
Since election night, the race between Republican Joe Walsh and incumbent Democrat Melissa Bean has remained too close to call. At last count, Walsh was ahead by 347 votes.
About 50 provisional and absentee ballots have yet to be counted in McHenry County, while about 975 ballots are outstanding in Lake County.
In Cook County, 209 absentee and 80 provisional ballots will be counted at 2 p.m. today.

Well, Joe Walsh is just an ordinary average guy.
And life’s been good to him so far.
Holding them back to see how many are needed to get a Rat "win"?
This will bring the net gain to +62.
Buerkle will win later this week, bringing it to +63.
Then Altschuler has a decent chance (50/50) to bring it to +64.

Lake Co is mostly GOP — the Cook CO ballots were Bean’s best hope, and they are almost all counted. McHenry is very GOP.
I realize public schools suck, but my God.. how long must it take to count 50 friggin’ ballots?
Except for North Chicago and Waukegan -- 130K+ population between them and heavily black and hispanic.
Lake Co may be mostly GOP but I think the Rats are still in charge of the election commission. At least in Tennessee the party in charge of the state legislature decides who runs the county election commissions. It’s kind of odd, but the GOP just took solid control of both houses in Tennessee and there will probably be 95 new county election commissioners.
Naturally the just COULDN’T be any voter fraud in play here!!! If the republican wins it will be a miracle.

We are not of little faith. We are just used to the Rats cheating and stealing close elections. And I have no doubt that they tried mightily to steal this one, too.
