PROVO – Did unreported factors contribute to the demise of Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign?

How did the news media cover the 1967-68 presidential campaign of his father, George Romney?

Two research projects presented to an audience of more than 100 people at BYU's Mormon Media Studies Symposium recently compared the two Romneys' campaigns.

BYU professors John Gee and Louis C. Midgley titled their paper, "Under the Media's Nose: Overlooked Factors Undermining the Presidential Campaign of Mitt Romney.

He did manage to convince many movement conservatives. Ann Coulter was an early supporter. Laura Ingraham introduced him to CPAC as the conservative’s conservative. I’m glad at least FR was able to expose him.

Yeah, it’s amazing how many “conservative” “leaders” he got to lie for him. I know for a fact many of them did it for money, but apparently some whored themselves out for nothing.

I thought it was because he looks fake, kinda like Max Headroom... you know with the plastic hair going on there. Really, out RINO-ing McCain and not being honest about it had more to do with his loss than anything else.

Maybe because at either the 1st or 2nd debate RINO Romney boasted that he had been a lifelong abortion pusher because

his mother Lenore Romney had been and she had run for US Senate from MI on an pro-abortion platform...

and he claimed he was “proud of her” for that sick stand..

and because his aunt had died from an abortion during the 1960s ...

though this made less sense than RINO Romney does...

“well organized, staff “

I especially liked the amazing organization of
his FAKE police force, complete with FAKE police
badges among his staff members!

That’s organization that every other candidate
could have learned from!

Since RINOmney allowed it to happen, I wonder
what the other candidates should learn about
how to be “ethical” from RINOmney?

“I posted this piece for the information of Freepers who only see highly critical articles about Mitt Romney.

“Fair and balanced.”

Are you implying the articles that are highly critical
of the baby killer RINOmney are false? Why are you on
FreeRepublic trying to “balance” out Mitt’s lousy
reputation as a conservative.

In other words, why are you taking time to shill for
RINOMNEY on FR, when people get banned for doing this?

We had plenty of "christian" "evangelical" bigots right here on FR who trashed Romney's Mormon religion and him as a member of the faith.

Myth's problem IS NOT his Mormonism, his problem is that he is a leftist abortionist who forced homosexual "marriage" on America and developed the prototype for Obamacare.

Myth did nothing more than pave the way for Zero.

Don't know whether they convinced anyone,

Let's see, Myth spent nearly $100 million of his own money and couldn't even beat John McLame. I'd say people saw right through Myth.

Nevertheless they were and are out there.

Yep, we're going to tell the truth about Myth until he goes away.

Romney's own behavior (before his BACKSTABBING OF WOMEN)
did the ineligible proven-bad governor, AND dog abuser, in.

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.

The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”
- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”

[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."
- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced
,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."
- Boston Globe 7/25/2005

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys.
He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>

"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

Conservatives lost because we were split among different conservative candidates and then Huckabee tossed his cookies at McCain. When that was not enough, in comes Thomopson who rounded up conservatives and then tossed them at McCain. I am not playing any games this time and I hope conservatives will all get behind the most likely conervative to win. If not, Soros will again pick our candidate.

Conservatives lost because Romney made it clear that he had all the money, and all of the organization to squash anyone, so only weak candidates ran.

Little did anyone know that the liberal Romney was such a God-awful candidate that his huge organization and 150 million dollars could not even beat a Huckabee or a John McCain, even though neither of them had money or organization.

People should have just looked at his record, he just can’t win elections, nor should he.
