“Does that make the House 240 R vs. 190 D with 5 races still undecided?”

By my count, 241 GOP and 192 Dem, with only the 2 NY races undecided.

This race needs to be studied as a case example of how rat fraud was somehow overcome in its lionest of lion’s dens.

That’s what I was afraid of. I saw that at one time the district had been represented by Rostenkowski, then Phil Crane, then Bean... so assumed Walsh would find himself in an even heavier D district by ‘12. One thing the D’s are good at is redistricting to benefit themselves.

In a twist to the usual paradigm: Walsh (GOP) was actually behind by more than a thousand or so, then votes were found for him (go figure, actually a math error found pretty quickly, if memory serves) that put him ahead by a few hundred votes. He got the GOP to help him with a team of lawyers and volunteers, and the Dems could not steal it in Illinois!! of all places.

This should make you feel better about Ellmers vs Etheridge. She is in good shape to secure victory in the recount, in much better position than Walsh was.

Just a few minutes ago, I came across another set of numbers.

This Politico article says 7 races are still undecided, with Rs leading in 5: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/45248.html

(The article counts IL 8 as one of the 5 leaning R.)

Melissa Bean will be making an announcement tomorrow afternoon. It may be a concession speech. If so, than Republicans will pick up at least 61 seats in the House.

Walsh was probably 4K votes ahead before the fraud kicked in. Rats just misundertabulated by 500.
Actually, the reverse happened if my memory serves me correctly. Bean was ahead on election night until a math error was discovered in a double-check of totals. Suddenly, Walsh was ahead narrowly.

Oops! My memory did not serve me too well. Walsh actually lead by about 700 before provisionals and absentees were counted. The math error was actually in the NY race with Altschuler the Pub being thrust into the lead after one paper had already called it for the Rat with the Rat leading by several thousand. That race is headed for a hand recount.

I bet she demands another recount tomorrow, but I think in the end Joe Walsh can win this. They manufactured tons of fradulent votes in Crook County but most of the district is outside Crook so it’s much harder to steal. And now if she tries to pull an Al Franken she’ll get caught. Walsh even has a form on his website for people to fill out to report incidents of vote fraud on election night.

Normally I’d be popping the champagne if Bean goes down. She’s probably the media’s second favorite Illinois RAT politician (No. #1 being Obama himself, of course), and is beloved by the media for the same resons they love Mark Kirk (phony moderate)

Vidak and Harmer don’t have a prayer, and it’s highly unlikely Farenthold or Ellmer’s lead would be reversed by a recount. Losing candidates were in closer races and did not even request a recount.

Only the 2 NY races are really in doubt.
