Body Scanner Controversy Making Bang Within the Corporate Media

Napolitano asks fliers for ‘patience’ on body scanners

The nation’s Homeland Security chief asked for air travelers’ “cooperation” and “patience” with full-body scanning and pat downs this holiday season amid a growing public backlash that the airport tactics are intrusive.

“Each and every one of the security measures we implement serves an important goal,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano writes in a column for today’s USA TODAY, which asks the public to be a partner in defending against terrorism.

Will the Dept. of Homeland Security drop the hammer on the unhappy U.S. population and go against the people’s wishes? Will we see some sort of fake terror attack to push these clearly unpopular naked body scanners?

If you’re over 50 and get cancer,
it will be determined “not cost effective”
to treat you.

My daughter is flying home from FLA today. I am curious what she has to say about her ‘exerience’. Hopefully she doesn't get the treatment.

As for me, I'm not flying till they get this solved. If I set aside the principle of privacy for just a moment, I don't particularly care if have to walk through a scanner so some highly trained TSA can get his/her freak on. But when they start touching me... no. Unless 1) I can pick the TSA agent who is going to be doing it, 2) she is hot and 3) all groping is equally recripicated, then forget it. Of course my wife would have to drive.

My read on this is - conditioning the populace to COMPLY with orders from government agents, regardless of constitutional rights.

Americans are being turned into Abu Ghraib prisoners.

The units, which have been in use since September, are apparently unable to tell the difference between foreign objects and such things like pleated clothing.

The scanners use millimetre-wave technology to produce outline images of bodies, with each scan lasting less than three seconds.

While some passengers are being asked to remove thicker clothes such as jumpers, NDR reported that the devices are regularly malfunctioning due to creases in lighter clothes such as blouses and skirts.

The press was hoping to catch everyone gobsmacked this Thanksgiving (too far along to be able to do anything but comply).

‘Former Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff has been criticized for heavily promoting full-body scanners while not always fully disclosing that he is a lobbyist for one of the companies that makes the machines’

Rafi Sela, an Israeli airport security expert who helped design security at Ben Gurion International Airport, has said:[82] “I don’t know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747...That’s why we haven’t put them in our airport”

Alex Jones had been harping on this whole TSA business for the last year. While he is pretty crazy he is right about this.

You cannot fix the "squirrel" problem unless you focus on the squirrels.

One of those in finding the responsible "squirrels" was a former head of the "squirrel finding" agency who has an investment/profit motive for using equipment that considers EVERY airline user a potential bird seed thief (even though the equipment isn't totally effective). Currently there are "squirrels" within the agency that is supposed to identify the "squirrels." that have actually, to date, been responsible for all birdseed theft. As you asked, how effective ultimately is this going to be?

More than likely terrorists will be revved up to be the first to bring down a plane that is chock full of body-scanned travelers who were under the Napolitano/Obama/Chertoff illusion of traveling safely. The lawsuits will REALLY fly then.

No, they will blame it on “the rectal bomber” so they can get their hands even further up our butts. They aren’t satisfied with just being in our pockets anymore.

So, if some terrorist at least tries a bomb up the anus trick what will be the TSA ‘procedure’ to attempt to stop that from happening again?

I say - profiling is the only thing that actually works.

I Googled “Soros” this morning. There are stories.

I want to be convinced though rather than jumping the gun vlaming him. He is simply the majority owner in a company making most of the scanners.

One thing that has had a blind eye turned away from it is the MANPAD problem. Which is THE problem when it comes to airliner safety. The moslems have been sneaking (just walking right in actually) MANPADS in to the US from Mexico for years. In 2002 I personally saw DHS giving seminars to local law enforcement where they were showing them how to identify the various MANPAD components. So this problem has been going on for a long time. I recall that even Colin Powell at one point said something like "the greatest threat to aviation is missiles" some years back.

Using a MANPAD is pretty simple. Point it at an airliner's engine to lock on the heat source, wait for tone and fire. Since the device is usually 6 ft. long or so they can be stashed in most cars or trucks. By the time the projectile hits the aircraft the shooter will be long gone. Since the kill zone is a 40 mile circle around any airport it is impossible to stop a MANPAD launch. There was talk about equipping airliners with countermeasures but the expense is huge. Plus, there are MANPADS that can be sight controlled to the target so countermeasures won;t work with a trained shooter.

The devices are here already, the terror cells are sitting and waiting to be activated. The feds are well aware of this. I cannot imagine what kind of stuff has been going on in the background because of this. I suspect one reason we are such wimps in dealing with moslems is that they are using this for leverage. Expect the Saudis to build more and more mosques and continue their expansion of their so-called religion in America. They can do this because besides having this MANPAD terror threat they can turn on one day and we will see commercial airliners falling out of the sky all over the US they also have a brother in the White House.

We need someone like Teddy Roosevelt in the White House. Someone that would make it clear that in the event of another 911 mecca and medina are gone. Barbaric force is all these folks understand.

Happy flying:)
