Senators and TSA Defend "Love Pats" at Airports

Transportation Safety Administration chief John Pistole and several senators from both parties defended the new, enhanced airport security screening procedures as necessary in the face of a persistent and evolving terrorist threat in a hearing Wednesday on Capitol Hill.

Pistole, calm and confident in the face of an increasing public outcry against the procedures, talked extensively about the repercussions of last year's attempted Christmas Day bombing being the impetus for the enhanced screenings before the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, TSA's oversight committee.

"We know the terrorists' intent is still there," Pistole testified. "We are using technology and protocols to stay ahead of the threat and keep you safe. (Several near-misses by terrorists on airplane bombings) got through security because we were not being thorough enough in our pat-downs."

Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri said prior to Pistole's testimony that she believed TSA was in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, because people would be hopping mad at TSA if Christmas bomber Umar Farouk Adbulmutallab had succeeded. She went on to say the new advanced imaging technology--which has caused uproar because of its leave-no-secrets imaging and potential health risks--is more of a blessing than a curse.

"I'm wildly excited that I can walk through a machine instead of getting my dose of love pats," Sen. McCaskill said.

The only reason that there is even a small segment of the population who is OK with this is because of the enormous reduction in modesty in this country of the past several decades.

My family would be mortified to be subjected to either the machine or the fondler.

I wonder how the TSA people feel about groping ‘junk’ all day long...

do they enjoy it?

You might want to request the sexual orientation of the TSA agent accosting you.

I try to look at the bright side of these "Pat Downs"...

I see it as having the price of a "Happy Ending" added into the price of my airline ticket.

If you look at it through those glasses, it seems a bit more plausible, and quite the bargain!! : )

For the most part he did succeed. He got past the hapless TSA, failed to detonate the bomb and was stopped by a civilian passenger.

TSA was useless in stopping him.

“All I want to know is if Moslem women are exempt.”

And I want to know if Senators and TSA bigwigs are exempt.

They would. Thiis is to condition the sheep to being humiliated and obeying orders. Nothing more, nothing less. They will stop exactly as many of whatever they are looking to stop as they did before the groping and feelups started.

After this gets old, there will be another procedure that is more invasive and humilating.

Tell the lodging manager, not just the front desk clerk, why. Espically if you are a repeat customer.

And the head of the local Chamber of Commerce, the ski area manager, the local mayor, letter to the editor of the local paper, and

That won’t work. SW Airlines kicked a woman off a plane for showing too much. Typically contradictory government.

RE: “I wonder how the TSA people feel about groping ‘junk’ all day long... do they enjoy it? “

Certain types of jobs attract certain types of personalities. Child molestors want to work with children. People with a protective personality want to be firefighters (or offensive guards and tackles) etc.

Same with TSA, I presume.

The TSA and the idiot senators are full of crap.

Intelligence is the key....the panty bomber’s own father, a prominent citizen in Nigeria, warned American authorities that his son was a potential terrorist targeting flights to the United States. What did the American authorities do with that information? Not a damn thing.

Also, these nudie scanners do NOT detect explosives hidden in body cavities.

TSA employees are not capable of anything more advanced than patting passengers down. It would require trained professionals to be able to profile like they do in Israel.

***********************

Quite so. Confusing TSA with security personnel is like confusing a janitor with an architect.

That would be considered “profiling” and we can’t do that.

Call the hag’s office and give her your take on this outrage.

Big Brother can combine your TSA pre-boarding check with your DeathCare exam. Go a day or a week early and have your annual Big Brother physical prior to getting on a plane. Rubber-gloved TSA agents can do breast and prostate exams at the same time as checking you for boarding. LOL
