Religion becomes issue in Texas fight [RiNo (bull) S***]

The Republican speaker of the Texas House, a Jew, is being attacked by conservatives citing religion, their e-mails show.

Speaker Joe Straus "clearly lacks the moral compass to be speaker," said conservative activist Peter Morrison.

"Both Rep. Warren Chisum and Rep. Ken Paxton, who are Christians and true conservatives, have risen to the occasion to challenge Joe Straus for leadership," Morrison wrote in his newsletter last Thursday, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Asked if he meant to say Straus is unfit because he is Jewish, Morrison replied, "I was simply making factual statements about Rep. Chisum and Rep. Paxton."

He said his opposition to Straus is driven by issues, not religion.

Straus said religious freedom and "the Judeo-Christian values of the dignity and worth of every individual" are key American principles.

Forget the hyperlink, let’s put it out here so folks will see it ....

* As Speaker, Straus appointed liberal committee chairs Burt Solomons and Brian McCall who effectively killed all immigration enforcement legislation in the 2009 session. Because the Legislature only meets every two years, this means the ongoing invasion of our state cannot be addressed until 2011 at the earliest.

* Joe Straus is pro-abortion. In fact, his rabbi sits on the board of San Antonio Planned Parenthood. I can tell you what I would do if my pastor supported Planned Parenthood: I would find a new church. Joe Straus clearly lacks the moral compass to be Speaker, the third most powerful office in the state.

* According to Heritage Alliance, in the last legislative session in which he voted, Joe Straus voted with conservatives only 52% of the time, which was the second worst voting record among Republicans. In fact, five Democrats were more conservative than Straus! His claim to be a conservative leader is laughable. He was elected in 2009 because of a coalition of turncoat Republicans and every Democrat in the Texas House.

Straus is a liberal, plain and simple. That’s why he needs to go ... not because he’s Jewish.

RINOs and Dems alike prefer to try to twist everything in some sort of bigotry issue instead of dealing with the facts.

I know nothing about Straus, but, by the way he is playing the religion card, he looks like a RINO.

I have campaigned HARD to ensure that Joe Straus’s career as speaker ends at one secession and had no idea he was Jewish until today.

If you have to make a deal with the enemy (democrats) to get elected in the first place and then reward them with key committee chairmanships for their support you are not, in my humble opinion, fit to BE speaker regardless of your religion.

When does the TX House vote for Speaker?

My rep is John Davis and I need to make sure he's not supporting this liberal Straus guy.

(Article) The Republican speaker of the Texas House, a Jew, is being attacked by conservatives citing religions, their e-mails show.

UPI lies! That is not what they said and not what they meant, but then UPI knew that when they lied.

Speaker Joe Straus "clearly lacks the moral compass to be speaker," said conservative activist Peter Morrison.

Last anyone checked, social conservatives and Christian conservatives all agree that the invisible high God of Israel is an excellent moral compass.

They are referring to "too-cool-for-school" liberalism and materialism; most liberals are agnostics, scientists, and epiphenomenal materialists. And anti-Christian on subjects like abortion and homosexuality.

These are not excessive characterizations of anyone -- liberals -- who regularly wind up on the same side of issues as the infamous self-hating Jew and Nazi collaborator, George Soros.

Nahhh. The same old "redneck Kluxer cracka cracka crackaaah!!" card.

All conservatives are bigots and "haters" you know. This from pencil-necked Communist scribblers.

I know nothing about Straus, but, by the way he is playing the religion card, he looks like a RINO.

While I'm not sure it was the greatest stroke of PR to label Straus' opponents "chr*stians and true conservatives" (though politicians from other communities are routinely identified ethno-culturally), I am quite willing to accept that it's because he is a liberal.

Unfortunately, if you go to the home page of that great "conservative" publication The Jewish Press they have a crawler at the top of the page that implies that the Speaker of the Texas House is under attack because he is Jewish. Meanwhile they regularly slap down Rabbi Yehuda Levin as if he were some sort of "embarrassment" to the frum community by being constantly in the public eye supporting G-d's moral and ethical demands of all people. I wonder if they'd come to his defense were he subjected to anti-Semitic attack, G-d forbid? But Rabbi Levin goes right on every year sending in articles to JP reminding all Jews that they are welcome for High Holy Day services at Congregation Mevaqshey-HaShem with no tickets required.

I don't get Jewish Press. They can defend Senator Joseph McCarthy from the charge of anti-Semitism, but whenever a liberal Jewish politician is in trouble it's right back to good old fashioned Tammany Hall-style Democrat ethnic politics.

Straus is "Reform." Here's the home page of his "temple."

I found the name of his rabbi in his Wikipedia article and then did a web search. I apologize if I have made a mistake, but I honestly don't think that I have.
