Janet Napolitano is getting a lesson: treat customers unreasonably and they will leave. Airport operators do not have to use TSA to screen passengers, and the first airport has already announced it will use one of the five private screening firms already approved to offer security screening for air travelers.
Unsurprisingly, the move comes from a scrappy underdog airport which competes with a larger, more famous facility: Orlando Sanford Airport, which is much smaller and farther from the Disney/Universal Studios attractions than the better-known Orlando International Airport. Sanford is a focus airport for low cost carrier Allegiant (which offers service mostly to smaller markets), but has scheduled international service by Icelandic Airlines, as well as frequent charter service by British airlines such as Monarch and Thomas Cook, which specialize in package tours.

It is. It would be a great way to assasinate someone you didn’t like though.
Probably when you flush or get a paper towel.
I was wondering about the efficacy of not having American airlines fly to trouble countries (Yemen, Pakistan, Saudi etc) - let those countries’ airlines move people back and forth.
Foreign airlines are usually more expensive.
Turn on the KLBJ T & D show. They have a former terrorist on live!
“The TSA is always trying to prevent the last terrorist attack instead of looking forward.”
Exactly. And how many games are won by playing defense only?
*** Foreign airlines are usually more expensive. ***
I don’t care. I’m sure most Americans wouldn’t care. People who want to travel to those countries should bear the cost of screening out terrorists.
Business and govt travelers care a lot. Many times, they are not allowed to use foreign carriers.
Israel has probably the most expert transportation screening processes in the world.
Unfortunately, to duplicate it on an American scale would not only require TSA people with far superior security skills than we now either hire or train for, and more layers of security with somewhat different level at each layer but the whole thing would come with a price-tag that tax-adverse Americans would not want to see spent.
The major difference between the Israeli and U.S. transportation security processes: the U.S. is working to detect the bomb, the Israelis work to detect the bomber.

“I like it. How does it detonate the explosives?”
You will have to ask Squantos, and his price for his answer might be steep. (Check his home page)
