Emanuel to face Challenge on Residency Issue
Chicago Sun Times ^ | November 18, 2010 | Abdon Pallasch

Next week, a veteran election lawyer plans to file a legal attempt to knock mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel off the ballot for allegedly failing to meet the residency requirement to run for mayor.

The issue is whether, by leasing out his house when he moved his family to Washington, D.C., to be President Obama's chief of staff, Emanuel ran afoul of the Illinois Municipal Code, which requires mayoral candidates to be residents of the towns they run in for a year before Election Day. The only exception is for active-duty members of the military.

Meeks is a standard poverty pimp “reverend” of the JJ mold and ilk.

Chicago is no way “turning into Detroit”. I lived in the latter and Chicago is a fricking paradise compared to that hole.

Just like his old boss, he’s ineligible, but will be allowed to run anyways. They don’t care.

Birds of a feather...

If that chump is elected Mayor, Chicago takes 9 steps backwards. Maybe they want that. Rahm; yeah sure. Sad. Was a great town back in the day and could be again without anyone associated to dim libs.

Meeks is allegedly pro-vouchers and pro-life (and anti-gay but he’s making nice with them). He first ran as an independent for the State Senate rather than take on the late rat Bill Shaw in the primary. My grandma hated the Shaw brothers. Mayoral (Village President actually I think) races in her town of Hazel Crest were always proxy fights between the Shaw camp and the Jesse Jackson camp. As was Meeks/Shaw. Meeks was VP of Rainbow/PUSH.

He’s the “best” that can win. Everyone thinks it will be him and Rahm in the runoff. Both combine and anti-combine Republicans appear to be backing him in this one.

I’m looking to vote for White if nothing better comes along in the first round.

Doesn’t say what party he is, doesn’t sound like any democrat north of Tennessee.

I wonder if Rev Jackson will attempt to castrate the President as he once threatened should Obama give too much aid to his boy Rahm if indeed it’s a Meeks/Rahm runoff.

My neighborhood seems to be a hotbed of support for Rev. Wildfredo De Jesus, a Hispanic Protestant Minister. Our local Alderman Billy Ocasio who quit to be Pat Quinn’s Director of something wanted De Jesus to replace him. But the Rev had run afoul of the gays.

Then Ocasio wanted his wife appointed. Daley declined his request. LOL. This city.

I think that Congressman Davis is more likely than Sen. Meeks to get into the run-off, since Davis is a black congressman, like Harold Washington was, in 1983. Davis increased his name recognition, a year ago, when he got signatures, to run for Cook Co. board president.

Maybe, he’s such a useless old goat isn’t he?

Davis has won the backing of Black members of the city council who want only 1 Black candidate in the race.

I assume Meeks will have Jackson’s backing.

I don’t see anything from Facebook on FR. This is the second time I’ve seen this, and I do not see any evidence of it. Where is it, and is it in all browsers?

I think it is because I am using Mozilla Firefox (I'm logged into facebook since I am the only user on this computer so maybe that has something to do with it). But on every thread I have the option to "Like" it.

So I am running Firefox on a MacBook Pro, if you can't see it I am guessing it is because I am always signed into FB on this computer. Free Republic is my homepage on Firefox I don't know if that means anything.

My Alienware Laptop (Windows) died so I've been running this laptop the last few weeks. So I dunno try Firefox and let me know now I'm interested because I wonder if I can "Like" my store's website, that'd be cool :)

OK, I see one little Like on one thread, but it’s not on every thread. Weird.
