Thu, Nov 18 08:43 PM Washington, Nov 18 (IANS) Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Thursday pledged another $500 million for the world's poor as she hailed a historic moment that will help bring financial services, particularly savings accounts, to hundreds of millions of people living on less than $2 a day.

Speaking at the foundation-hosted Global Savings Forum in Seattle, the first global gathering focused on the role of savings in the developing world, Gates urged leaders in government, banking, mobile communications, and international development to work together to build a new kind of financial infrastructure to bring savings to the poor.

I saw this and I just want to know exactly what logic went into this. The Gates Foundation seems to have eclisped the Old Ford Foundation as the most Leftist group now dispensing monies to all manner of idiotic one world causes. Here we have a severe ongoing Recession/Depression where that $500 Million could go along way to helping people right here in the United States but that money is going to a program to show and encourage "POOR PEOPLE" to save money. Poor people as a rule don't have any extra income to save, they need every dime they have to live day to day. Well another example of another Capitalist who having made his pile turns Socialist to tell the rest of us how to live.

BTW I watched Captain Blood again about 3 weeks ago. What a great movie and Flynn is my all time favorite leading man. That guy was a great actor, too bad he drank himself to death.

Just think of how much the Gates and Buffets are cheating the government of the taxes that both families advocate. Between the two families, some $100 Billion dollars in capital gains have gone untaxed and the residual monies, susceptible to inheritance taxes which will go uncollected.

I don’t agree with their Planned Parenthood types of giving. But here they are giving their own money to the poor. They are not lobbying Congress to raise our taxes to do it.

Oh yes I certainly enjoy that Hypocrisy. Gates, his Father, etc., advocate a strong and excessive Death Tax yet they are able to offload all this money to their foundation and effectively reduce or eliminate taxes.
Also a few years ago after Buffett advocated more taxes on the wealthy someone was abled to analyze his taxes and he was effectively paying about 18%, lots of his money at the time was in Federal and Muni Bonds. Talk about a jackass and a Hypocrite!!!!!!!!

Well the old saying comes into play here, “Charity Begins at Home” and this old home, where the money was made, needs a lot of help. Lot of folks need help right now especially at Holiday time. That $500 Million would really help.
But you see this money os part of an agenda ad ego trip to try and save the world. Keep the money at home and help here.
