Thu, Nov 18 08:43 PM Washington, Nov 18 (IANS) Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Thursday pledged another $500 million for the world's poor as she hailed a historic moment that will help bring financial services, particularly savings accounts, to hundreds of millions of people living on less than $2 a day.
Speaking at the foundation-hosted Global Savings Forum in Seattle, the first global gathering focused on the role of savings in the developing world, Gates urged leaders in government, banking, mobile communications, and international development to work together to build a new kind of financial infrastructure to bring savings to the poor.

B&M Gates are as leftist as they come. It is not called “MSNBC” for nothing, the MS stands for Microsoft.
BTW I watched Captain Blood again about 3 weeks ago. What a great movie and Flynn is my all time favorite leading man. That guy was a great actor, too bad he drank himself to death.
I gotta commend Melinda for her great generosity in giving away her husband’s money. By the way, if you’d be willing to slip me 50 bucks I’d gladly give it away to charity. Now that I think about it, make that 100 bucks ya stingy tightwad!
what a waste of good money.
If money was all it took to fix the poors problems... their wouldn’t be any poor people in America, because the government alone has spent trillions trying to help them, and it hasn’t helped one bit, and might even have made things worse.
did they do this to avoid 2011 tax rate increases? how dare they. sarc/
Jeez. Give them a break.
I don’t agree with their Planned Parenthood types of giving. But here they are giving their own money to the poor. They are not lobbying Congress to raise our taxes to do it.
This is capitalism at its finest.
Helping the poor is a good thing. Ever heard of Jesus?
It is a great movie...and Flynn is one of my all time favorites also. So good looking and charismatic. Loved him in Robin Hood also.
“Captain Blodd” is also one of favorites and never miss a chance to watch it. They could not make this film again, just don’t have the actors.
$500 million would buy a lot of cell phones, which has been shown to help third world people more than anything.
BINGO!! Their Foundatiosn are TAX FREE SLUSH FUNDS!!! PERIOD! SKANKS.
Well the old saying comes into play here, “Charity Begins at Home” and this old home, where the money was made, needs a lot of help. Lot of folks need help right now especially at Holiday time. That $500 Million would really help.
But you see this money os part of an agenda ad ego trip to try and save the world. Keep the money at home and help here.
Agreed. To paraphrase Col. Jessup: “ I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to someone who benefits from the economic stimulus that MSFT has provided over the years, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pull out your own wallet, and make your own damn donation.”
BINGO!! Their Foundatiosn are TAX FREE SLUSH FUNDS!!! PERIOD! SKANKS.

We have astronomical unemployment and underemployment in this nation, people losing their homes left and right, and all this dim-wit can think of to make herself feel better and look ever so much more caring, is send hundreds of millions of dollars outside our nation.
“Don’t touch me you unclean Americans. Only the foreign are deserving of my help.”
What a vapid nincompoop.
Whatever she does, I sure hope she follows the advice of marxists around the world and depletes as much wealth as she can without benefiting the U. S. on any level. /s
This level of ignorance and the resulting action is a U. S. tragedy. I’m sure it will be repeated.
The Gates just want to waste more money on exporting abortion and population control to the world’s poor through Planned Parenthood Intl.
The other stuff is a fig leaf.
You're nuts!
