OCALA – A federal judge today rejected movie star Wesley Snipes' demand for a new trial and ordered the actor to surrender to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons to begin serving a 36-month prison sentence for tax-related crimes.

In a 17-page order, U.S. District Court Judge William Terrell Hodges said, "The Defendant Snipes had a fair trial; he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his conviction and sentence by the Court of Appeals; and he has had a full, fair and thorough review of his present claims, during all of which he has remained at liberty. The time has come for the judgment to be enforced."

Snipes must think he’s Tim Geithner or something?

Mr. Snipes didn’t think to run for Congress and become Chair of Ways and Means

If we didn’t have an income tax, there would have been no crime for Snipes to have broken.

Imagine how much simpiler our lives as citizens would be if there was no income tax.

his crimes being... not wanting to voluntarily hand over his property which will be used to buy votes redistributed

last i checked, the redistribution of wealth is not Constitutional. i know, i know... a completely unbiased judge found in favor of the tax code. of course, he is paid by that tax code... no conflict here.

then again, since they spend money they don't have anyways...

why do they need ours?

Appeal on the grounds that the tax laws are not enforced equally across the nation.
He can claim that since the IRS did not enforce the laws against Timmy-the-Tax-Cheat, then he should not be, or at least given the same treatment................

He evaded paying taxes on his income.

It's the law of the land and he broke it - and due to the fact that he is a celebrity he has managed to evade the penalty for years now.

I’m sure the Bronco must have been Randy Quaid’s. Wesley would certainly drive a black Hummer with plenty of bling on the outside.

Foolish man, should have used the Rangel defense.

I was not corrupt. My intentions weren't criminal. I was just sloppy with my book keeping.

So did,
Timothy Geithner
Tom Daschle
Hilda Solis
Nancy Killefer
Ron Kirk
Kathleen Sebelius

All Obama appointees or almost appointees.

Then there is Charlie Rangel
Dianne Wilkerson
Chris Dodd
