Millionaires to Obama: Tax us (reverse peristalsis alert)

Anti-tax activists everywhere have been loudly arguing for an extension of George W. Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans in the United States. Now a group of millionaires is arguing the opposite.

More than 40 of the nation's millionaires have joined Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength to ask President Obama to discontinue the tax breaks established for them during the Bush administration, as Salon reports.

"For the fiscal health of our nation and the well-being of our fellow citizens, we ask that you allow tax cuts on incomes over $1,000,000 to expire at the end of this year as scheduled," their website states. "We make this request as loyal citizens who now or in the past earned an income of $1,000,000 per year or more."

Why do they need to ask permission? They can simply write a check to the Treasury.

By all means, immediately pass a bill providing that these 40 people pay a much higher tax rate. 80% sounds about right. After all, its good for the country right?

I bet that everyone of these 40 pays an accountant to ensure that they pay the lowest tax possible each year.

Now a group of millionaires is arguing the opposite.

Oh, what a bunch of liars. They can donate as money as they want to the government, but they don't. What they really want is taxes on everyone else, knowing they will be able to shelter/dodge taxes.

I’d look into how these people became millionaires...

These millionaires are fully capable of paying any amount of extra taxes now. What they are demanding is for taxes to be raised on OTHER PEOPLE!

I hereby invite all financially-wealthy people who want to be taxed to go ahead and donate freely to the Federal Government. No laws, accountants or paperwork is required. You are only costing us money in legislative processing of a bill that would deny you the freedom to give as much or as little as you want when you want. You would do us all a huge favor in removing the politics from your apparent desire to support your centralized government. Of course, you might want to consider giving to the local charities, schools, parks, hospitals and government entities first, but that would be all yours to decide.

You are not the only one to note these “millionaires”, who claim to want to pay more, (ha ha ha) are not just going ahead and doing so. They seem to want the money taken by force (IRS), not given to the treasury voluntarily AND they want to be sure that others, similarly situated, have their $$$ taken by force as well.

And, you all seem to be right - this little dodge is political. And, many of them don’t have incomes of $1M per year. Taxing them on their wealth would be a much better idea. Let’s ask them how they feel about that:)

It’s misdirection bordering on fraud. These yahoo democrat supporters are certainly shilling for der Fuehrer. They don’t care if the taxes are raised on “millionaires” because they know that their special little tax dodges, shelters and loopholes that only the really rich can take advantage of will still be there. They may make $100 mil but they also shelter enough of their assets to keep the taxes at a level far below that.

Soros, Buffet, Gates and Jobs you;re free to make donations for the treasury ANYTIME you want. I believe you even have the resources and political clout to see how your donation is spent. Something the little people can’t do.

Fine with me to raise taxes for those making over 1mil a year. They’re mostly Dems anyway.

Citizens who wish to make a general donation to the U.S. government may send contributions to a specific account called “Gifts to the United States.” This account was established in 1843 to accept gifts, such as bequests, from individuals wishing to express their patriotism to the United States. Money deposited into this account is for general use by the federal government and can be available for budget needs. These contributions are considered an unconditional gift to the government. Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room 622D

Huckabee once had a very good idea. In Arkansas, he created a Tax Me More Fund. Republicans should propose the same idea on the Federal level. On all federal tax returns, individuals would have the option to pay any additional amount they’d like. Hell, they can even create a higher tax bracket for themselves and just send in the additional cash. These millionaires could contribute all the extra money they want, and once a week the IRS could even publish the list of all new donors and how much they put towards the deficit.

If Democrats feel they should be paying more, well, this would be a very easy way for them to do it - and they’d even get their name published so they can win approval from their fellow leftists.

Of course these liberals won’t actually contribute anything extra. When a liberal talks about higher taxes, they mean for other people. It’s always the other schmucks that should pay, not them. Still, the Tax Me More Fund is a good idea. Republicans could always point to that fund on each tax return and say “if half the country wants higher taxes, they are welcome to get started right now”.

What I like is that they claim to be “patriots”. Would a patriot need the IRS to tell them to donate more of their income if the patriot truly believed it was the right thing to do?

Somehow, these self-styled “patriots” don’t feel comfortable just donating their income freely and voluntarily - they want to be sure that everyone else so situated be compelled by the IRS to do so as well.

RE: “Please! Any time they want to pay more taxes they are welcome to it...they don’t have to wait for the Bush tax cuts to expire.”

***********************

Exactly! On a much grander scale, this reminds me of the stunt an especially annoying ‘progressive’ neighbor pulled
recently concerning our gardener.

A group of us all have the same gardener who comes once a week — probably eight homes use his services on this street alone.

This gardener does not charge a lot and most customers have been with him for YEARS.

The ‘progressive’ told me and one other neighbor, a garden variety Dem, that she had instructed the gardener to ‘charge everyone MORE because he did not charge enough!’

Really? Imagine the gall of that! The Dem neighbor and I said “How can you speak for all of us?” “You don’t know everyone’s situation nor is it your business.” “If you want to pay more, put more in your check at the end of the month!” The ‘progressive,’ surprised, went slinking away.

Fortunately, the gardener has NOT increased his fees based on what this idiot said — he’s probably afraid half of us would drop him.

But I say all this just to show how the far left thinks — they will decide for everyone what is best — never mind finding out how others feel about matters. It’s all about THEM, always.

As for me, I have to live next door to this fool, so enjoy playing my radio, loud, when Limbaugh, Levin et al are on — I know she can hear it as she is always on her driveway noisily tossing junk into her bins.

I also have the flag flying every day and Don’t Tread on Me sticker on the car — she has to see it every time she walks out the door. LOL

She has been totally quiet since the election, even though all the idiots in CA were re-elected, as usual. Obviously that was not good enough and she is stewing about the national losses. She had a huge party when Obama won — all her leftist friends present, yelling and carrying on for hours. Yecchhh.
