What’s the connection between Islam and Catholicism with Fatima?
FReeper fatima is usually on the Canteen. I tried to make it a capital F, but fFR changes it back to the lower case. That is her screen name here.
Fátima is a place in Portugal. The name dates back to when the Iberian peninsula was invaded and conquered by Izlam. Fátima was the daughter of Mohammed, and the little town was named for her. Long after the re-conquest, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children at Fátima on the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917.
I suggest you do a search for the online article called “Mary and the Moslems” by Bishop Fulton Sheen.
It’s excellent and he makes the case that the intransigence of the Moslems has only responded favorably to the Christian message when the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was on display in Islamic societies. Apparently the Koran does speak favorably of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and she is considered the 2nd holiest woman to have ever lived after Fatima, a daughter of Mohammed.
