Jihadists planning German parliament attack: report 8:35am EST
BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's decision to step up security measures this week was prompted by discovery of militant plans to break into the Reichstag parliament building and shoot hostages, a German magazine said on Saturday.
The weekly Der Spiegel, citing security officials, said a jihadist living abroad had informed them in recent telephone calls of a plan for armed militants to enter the 19th century building in central Berlin and open fire. It said police considered the information credible.
Germany's Federal Crime Office (BKA) had no immediate comment on the report.
The information, the magazine said, had prompted officials to announce on Wednesday they were raising security, especially at public places including airports and train stations.
Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said on Thursday authorities were on guard against threats of an armed attack of the kind that killed 166 in the Indian city of Mumbai in 2008.

Some voices keep telling us that the US is a target just because we seemingly support Israel and if we would just be “evenhanded” Islam would love us.

Germany and the Reichstag, really? One might think just for nostalgia sake, the Reichstag should be something like number 25 or 26 on Islam’s holiest sites list. Just above where Mohammad’s donkey once took a piss, and just below where Mohammad stood when he first lusted on his favorite nine year old.
I went to Germany for a few weeks in 1980. They had a problem percolating even then. Surly Muslim men hanging out on streetcorners. It is BAD in Europe. What a disaster in the works if this is not addressed in each and every country there.
To be fair, their immigration standards are probably more restrictive than ours. And, children born in Germany DO NOT automatically acquire German citizenship at birth. There are some restrictions, to include having one German citizen parent, or have a parent that is a LEGAL resident, and has been for some period of time. After that, I believe there are also restrictions upon what other citizenship(s) you can possess. I don't believe - although I could be mistaken - that you can have any other citizenship, and still then become a German citizen, even if you're born in Germany.

As he paused for breath, an old woman in the corner murmured at him "Seems to me we used to have six million JEWS too..."
The Muslim went absolutely silent and left at the next stop.

Good move there, mohammadeans. Pizz off the Germans. Angry Germans tend to kill things, like whole populations. (Unfortunately and tragically, they targeted the absolute wrong populations last time, namely the Jews, other Europeans, and the allies. But look what it took to stop them.) That’s been the driving force for two World Wars. And many smaller but still brutal wars before WWI.
Yes, I know, today’s Germany is different. Softer. Liberal. However, some core truths last throughout history. To wit, an angry Germany is DANGEROUS.
The difference this time? Even if the obamanation orders it, the US military will not get in the Germans’ way.

PS The only thing more dangerous is an angry America. But it takes a LOT more to get us sufficiently angry.
