Seizing on a message she used two decades ago in her historic run for the U.S. Senate, Carol Moseley Braun announced Saturday she was running for Chicago mayor to be a voice for the unheard and an advocate for the underrepresented.
"This great city can't survive if some Chicagoans are treated like second class citizens," Braun told about 150 supporters gathered outside on the chilly morning at Northerly Island along the lakefront. "This city must continue to grow with the support of and inclusion of every neighborhood, every community."
After filing signature petitions last week to run for mayor, Braun's announcement was certainly no surprise. She had several local elected leaders supporter her at her rally, including U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, who led the crowd in a "Yes Carol Can!" chant, borrowing from the "Yes We Can" mantra used by President Barack Obama.

I lived in Chicago — the south side. I even remember some idiot that would show up at local banks and still up the crowd with mindless rhetoric. His name was Obama. And Braun was another racist hater.
Nothing has changed since I left. I feel sorry for blacks that want to achieve on their own merit.
Is there any elected office in the entire State of Illinois that she *hasn’t* run for at one time or another, since her stint as Senator??
The first few times were kinda entertaining, but this is just getting painfully embarrassing....
Commie Carol.
Chicago deserves this one.
“Nothing has changed since I left. I feel sorry for blacks that want to achieve on their own merit.”
....I know what you’re saying here...I served with a number of motivated blacks in the service that succeded by hard work and self pride...sadly, that generation is getting old now, and each following one has bought into the idea that America owes them big time....
example:...Michelle Obama had educational opportunities that most white families could never afford, and she acts like it was all owed to her.
Finally, Carol finds a campaignto run in where she is not the most corrupt on the ticket.
I remember her very well. It was her Senate rant against the battleflag that motivated me to join Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Omit the last three words of the title and I’m for it.
WOW! I totally agree, Mr. Braun! So, when you become mayor, you're going to remove ALL impediments to your constituents' rights as affirmed in the 2nd Amendment, right? "A gun in every pot," as it were?
If only. Chicagoans deserve their rights.
OMG...THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT!!!!!!
I can't wait for Rush's next show.
Da da da...da da da...da da da...da da da...
Well we're movin' on up...movin' on up
to the East side...movin' on up...
Haven't heard that in years.
Look between the lines..Rahm and Braun are both hard core Clintonistas. The only way the Rahm can win is if the black vote is divided..this is a kamikaze mission for Braun..a favor for Rahm..
Mostly-Fraud is a perfect fit for a corrupt cesspool like Chicago. She can lead another 5000 people on a trip to Africa when she wins. This is a great turn of events. Chicago will be over by the end of her first term. The racists in Springfield won’t give Chicago a dime with Mostly-Fruad as mayor.
