Old papers tell different tales on Obama's past

Contributing to the impression of shifting sands in his official biography, two newspaper articles from 1990 – apparently based on interviews with Barack Obama – reported that the future president left Hawaii for Indonesia when he was 2 years old, not 6 years old, as he relates in his autobiography.

On May 3, 1990, the Associated Press widely published a feature story on Obama highlighting him as the first African-American named as president of the Harvard Law review.

"Obama moved to Southeast Asia at age 2 when his parents divorced and his mother married an Indonesian," the Associated Press reported. "Until the fifth grade, Obama attended Indonesian schools, where most of his friends were the sons of servants, street peddlers and farmers."

The Associated Press article was widely published throughout the United States in newspapers that typically picked up and reprinted AP stories.

can tell one thing for sure. The child on the left with the fuller face is a flip flop. It’s a construction using one side of a face (symmetrical), twice. In so doing, the creator ended up with a fuller face, smeared out the dividing line on the bridge of the nose noticeably and there is a boo boo on the right side of the neck - a notch where things didn’t line up very well...

...and also, cut SAD out of the group, placed the mirror-image face of zero back on his neck, placed the head and shoulders beside SAD at the same height, making him look as if he was as tall as his mother. Who-ever did this must have done so for a joke, the composition doesn't hold water, does it? At least, and thank you for pointing that out, knowing that image of zero is a mirror image, we can now understand where the idea of twins may have partly come from.

To create confusion and send us looking for a 'David' who might never have existed would suit anyone of a thousand obots. They watch every comment we make, and when someone says 'maybe twins' - presto! They send us a 'twin', with perfect teeth, and shadows on his face that are symmetrical.

Meanwhile the real question remains. Which of the two images is the fake? The one supposedly from the Menteng school in Indonesia, or the one with Scott Inoue in Hawaii? Or BOTH!

Scott isn't in clear yet. He won't be until he shows that letter he says he received from zero - with thanks for the image. All we have seen is an unreadable image of the letter. What did it contain we aren't supposed to see?

I always thought the angle of BO’s hand/wrist around Scott’s neck was really stiff and artificial looking. Almost like “Ew, better not touch.” Why wouldn’t he just rest his palm on his shoulder, in a relaxed and friendly manner?

Scott doesn’t look too comfortable, himself.

...maybe what we are looking at with the child who has a gap between his front teeth is an earlier image, so that by the time the photograph without the gap was taken, enough time had passed for the gap to grow out?

That this might place him in Hawaii BEFORE Indonesia shouldn’t surprise us, the group on the couch, Lolo, SAD with Maya and zero is probably also a fake composition.

Maya supposedly born in 1970 is what throws that scenario in doubt. She also has a birthday in 1971, according to a census form...which I cannot access at the moment.

Hard to draw any useful conclusion really. We have two images, both of which have been tampered with and two dates for Maya’s birth date. As usual, there’s nothing you can take to the bank. But that’s the intent, isn’t it?

The same reason two parents can have a towheaded blonde and a dark haired child—it’s all in the genes. My kids are an example—one has the dark hair and eyes of my Hispanic husband but my lily white skin and the other has my light hair and eyes but my husband’s darker skin.

Another thing that’s patently obvious is the position of the hand and arm around Scott. Try to get your hand in that position and check the pitch of your shoulder when you do so.

Then focus on the most obvious manipulation. The smaller boy’s bangs. You think that’s natural, do you? No enlargement is necessary to answer that question.

Neither of these is obviously awry. The arm resting on the other boy's shoulder is bent at the elbow behind him. And what in the world are you talking about with the Asian boy's bangs! The most apparent thing in either case is your need to believe there's something faked about this photo. I suppose the poster who knows the other boy, who told her that Barry was in his class at that time for a few months, must necessarily be lying or that the man who was the other boy was necessarily lying because you think you see something strange about the bangs.

Anyone skilled enough to make a composite that looks that good would also be skilled enough not to leave such minor things to wonder about. The more likely explanation is that in anything that is visually complex there are enough things that a mind, bent on seeing something else, will usually see enough to convince himself or to convince himself that what he would have seen would have been seen and that what he perceives of as anomalies are, therefore, proof of its existence.

I don’t “need” to see anything, fake or real. What I do see, I have stated. If you see real bangs and are comfortable with the hand and arm position, well then, mazltov, sharp eyes.

Barry with little sister looks older than Barry with Scott. So if Barry was in Hawaii for Christmas of 1969, and Scott didn't recall him being there for the entire year, then the picture of an older, chunkier Barry with his mom and sister isn't problematic. So he went back for a visit. Remember he was shuttled around a lot. Not as much, perhaps, as an Army brat or a PK in that era (between birth and 14 I lived in five different places in three different states), but more than a lot of kids. As emotionally turbulent as his life was up through his "mentorship" with FMD, I'd be surprised at how accurate his memory was of where he went, when he went, and how many times he went.

I don't think either biography should be considered definitive on timelines and places. Neither was written for the purpose of historical accuracy but for cultivating a hagiography.

I agree the child looks older in the image with his mother ‘in Indonesia’ ... which he must be, if his sister was born in August 1970.

Older than the image of him in Hawaii in 1969, when he supposedly attended school with Scott Inoue. I will let Scott have the last word, he said ‘when you figure it out, let me know.’
