I can't remember the source, but between New York and California, three million residents leaving those states explain some of the voting shift. Similar losses elsewhere explain more. I doubt that they are all rats. IMHO, most are not.

between cities on the coasts and the less-dense areas..is where the battle lines have been drawn.
They were there when Bush was running for POTUS.
Watch for the Liberal Disapora as they flee that which they have constructed, move to more Conservative areas, and desperately attempt to re-create the same 'utopia' they just fled.

I’ll save you the ink with a no prisoners style comment:
Dumb, white dead male voters rescued the GOP. Reading this trashy analysis is waste of time.

The Republican Party's big gains in the House came largely from districts that were older, less diverse and less educated than the nation as a whole.

Did ANYONE here of ANY exit polling this time around that asked the specific question of exiting voters "DO YOU APPROVE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA OR NOT?"Also I wanted to hear specifically asked of 2008 Obama Voters, "As you had voted for Mr. Obama two years ago, will you be voting, if the election were held today, for him again?"
Does ANYONE know if any of the networks, polling agencies, etc. posed those questions on a major scale at the polls earlier this month? All I have heard is silence on the matter. I of course know what the votes meant, but I wonder if they did this kind of specific issue-based polling as well. It could prove to be good ammo against the denialist Dems.

The Obama coalition remained intact. Democrats remained strong in areas with the party's core of minorities and higher-educated (I have no doubt they have been properly trained & educated) Marxist whites.

I was just going to bed but this caught my eye and I had to comment...
Results from the last several years elections have exposed a deepening political divide between urban areas and the rest of the country.
There, fixed it.
If you look at the county returns plotted on a U.S. map, virtually all large urban areas vote commiecrat blue, while everywhere else, the country is republican,(now Conservative) red. The blue states are only blue in the big cities. Case in point, Cleveland Ohio is a massive stain of blue, but go 20 miles outside the city proper and it is surrounded by a sea of red.

From the article:
The Republican Party's big gains in the House came largely from districts that were older(Read: senile), less diverse (Read: racist) and less educated (Read: stupid) than the nation as a whole. Democrats kept their big majorities in the cities.
Fits the Journ-O-list template to a "T".
The media are the enemy -- until they are converted or destroyed, any inroads made into the left are only temporary.

The most stupid clods I ever met were bureaucrats from DC. You’d need a bunker buster to penetrate their thick skulls. Then when you finally got inside, you’d find a physicist’s dream - a perfect vacuum on Earth.

Democrats largely held on to their high share of the vote in the country's densest places. They certainly did well among the country's densest people.
