DEVELOPING: A jury has reached a verdict in the trial of a man accused of killing Washington intern Chandra Levy, MyFoxDC.com reports.
Ingmar Guandique is charged with murder in Levy's death nearly a decade ago.
Levy disappeared in 2001. Her case drew attention when she was romantically linked to then-Congressman Gary Condit. The California Democrat was initially a suspect but police no longer think he was involved.
Prosecutors say Levy's death fits a pattern of attacks by Guandique in 2001 in Washington's Rock Creek Park. That's where her remains were found.
Defense lawyers say the Salvadoran immigrant has become a scapegoat for a botched investigation.

Most people immediately KNEW Condit had something to do with it, just like people KNOW OJ killed his wife. Just because these creeps manage to get off doesn't mean they're innocent.
The immigrant was no saint and probably should have been in jail a long time ago, but he sure made a good patsy when one was needed.

The evidence is compelling about the illegal’s guilt. The jury’s conclusion is strong evidence about his guilt.

Another inmate testifying that he killed her is hardly “compelling evidence”. In fact, there was no evidence at all that I have heard.
No eyewitnesses, no DNA, nothing. I would have agreed but there is no evidence at all.

Having served on several military court martial panels my instinct says Ingmar’s jury rendered the verdict they believed to be correct—that is it was based on the evidence presented.
People tend to take very seriously finding someone guilty of a capital crime. Moreover, the jury selection process tends to favor the defense.
That said, it does not mean Condit was not complicit in the murder. And it in no way absolves him of taking advantage of his position to seduce a young women that was never going to be his wife. Condit was and is a first class dirt bag.

Condit was thoroughly investigated. After some initial reluctance, he fully cooperated with law enforcement. No evidence has ever linked Condit to her disappearance or murder. The mistaken focus on Condit may have contributed to the delay in apprehending the real murderer.
Chandra was a willing partner in the affair. She knew he was married. I believe that she was 24 at the time of the affair so she was not just fresh out of high school. I do not approve of the affair but thousands of Americans have affairs every year. Condit was a serial philander. Chandra was not his only affair during the time.
An affair is not a crime. He did not deserve accusations of murder. He was unlucky in that suspicion would naturally fall on him. Sometimes life is not fair. Affairs can lead to associated fallouts in life.
Is this the type of “Opportunity” that this Salvadorian was thinking about when he came to America?
This guy is going to be alive for about another 30+ years getting 3 squares a day with free room and board courtesy of liberals and taxpayers before he’s even executed.

Funny, though, if he had not gotten involved with this woman he would never have come under suspicion. Isn’t that so? The fact is, he used his elected position, a position of power, to have irresponsible sex with a young woman he never intended to marry. Corporations and civil service have sanctions for that kind of behavior.
Now you can wriggle and spin until hell freeezes over but it doesn’t change the bottom line: Condit, and people like him, are societal slugs. Oh, and if the shoe fits wear it.

Your statement implies that he was somehow involved.
I am not sure that he used his position of power. I do not think there is any evidence that he provided a job or special favors for Chandra. She was probably attracted to his position.
I am not condoning his behavior. Affairs are destructive behavior. I admit that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, if the DC police had performed a competent investigation, resources would not have been wasted on Condit.
How can any jury convict a man - even a man with a serious criminal record - of a murder with no physical or forensic evidence to link him to the crime, nor anyone able to place him at or near the supposed location of the crime at the time it occurred?
Indique had been a suspect questioned by DC Police months after Levy's disappearance and released at the time for lack of evidence.
Very convenient for DC authorities to put the rap on one local lowlife like Indique for an alleged random street crime, rather than fully explore the possibility of a goon or goons hired by Condit, perhaps coming into DC from out of town, to do the dirty work.

As I recall, you hollered that into the open bus doors when it stopped on the corner to drop off or pick up passengers.
That's how I'll always remember my Congressman - a dirtbag.
