I recently visited the Gulf Coast for the specific purpose of eating the sea food. I ate local shrimp and oysters and fish every night and several days for lunch.

It is ok. It is delicious. Don’t believe the crap.

Alabama wild shrimp and Florida gulf shrimp are fabulous

Scientists found elevated levels of Anthracene, a toxic hydrocarbon and a by-product of petroleum. The Anthracene levels were double what the FDA finds to be acceptable.

Sounds like scare tactics to me. Why can't the actual results with the name of the website were they were purchased, the scientist that tested them, the detailed results of the test, and the FDA specific recommendations be disclosed in the article?

Can’t be any worse than the shimp packed and sent from China.

Lead, Feces, Mercury, other unidentifed heavy metals, and toxins.

Won’t eat anything labeled from China.

Best thing to do is avoid shrimp in restos and if you buy it know where it came from. The crap from asia is almost as bad too.

"Scientists found elevated levels of Anthracene, a toxic hydrocarbon and a by-product of petroleum. The Anthracene levels were double what the FDA finds to be acceptable. The scientist who tested the shrimp said she would not eat it based on the results, and the results may surprise consumers and shrimpers."

This is simply asinine. If the shrimp had been exposed to crude oil, there would be "elevated levels" of MANY compounds, not just anthracene.

Would`nt matter to a lot of people in here. They would happily feed it to their kids.
