Rangel Supporters: "We Shall Overcome"

The crowd included Christian and Muslim clergy from Harlem, as well as Comptroller John Liu, council member Robert Jackson and former mayor David Dinkins.

"There's nothing to be gained by seeking to further humiliate this great man," said Dinkins. "So it's my hope that those of us here gathered and others, that we'll make phone calls to members of the House, and persuade them to our point of view."

Rangel is a popular figure in Harlem. Among the supporters who were out and about was a rapper, Pop-a-Lot, who spontaneously put his thoughts to verse:

“Everybody look for resurrectin' in the soul of Christ. So we all pay the price in Paradise. This is the evolution of life. So for Charlie Rangel had to do what he do to take care his kids, his seat and his wife.”

But some people found walking down 135th Street said censure is warranted. Alonso Correa called Rangel one of his "favorites" but felt his ethical lapses were too serious to ignore.

"United States is a nice place to live," said Correa. "You can have what you're looking for. But you have to do good. You cannot play games with the law."

Jennifer Domise was less forgiving.

"He made a public buffoon of himself, by standing up in front of the House and saying, you know, 'save me,'" said Domise (pictured above). "It was embarrassing. For Harlemites, for myself as a black woman and as an expat living in New York, it's embarrassing."

The use of civil-rights-era imagery for nothing but covering up a fraud’s shady dealings.

How perfect.

The republicans really need to take back ownership of MLK’s memory.

The left bear absolutely ZERO relation to him. Even more today.

Oh yes there is. It’s out money Charlie stole and he can give it back.

Charles Rangel is a DIRTBAG.

From this article in the New York Post, it says;

QUOTE Charles Rangel, whose ethics trial starts tomorrow, appears to have improperly used political-action committee money to pay for his defense.

Rangel tapped his National Leadership PAC for $293,000 to pay his main legal-defense team this year. He took another $100,000 from the PAC in 2009 to pay lawyer Lanny Davis.

Two legal experts told The Post such spending is against House rules.

"It's a breach of congressional ethics," one campaign-finance lawyer said. UNQUOTE

Rangel is attempting to break ethics to fight ethics violations. New Yorkers elected Charles Rangel and will give him a pass on this latest obscenity.

Mr. Rangel thought being at Selma exempted him from obeying the law--per John Lewis.

Rangel is a popular figure in Harlem. Outside of his welfare district of Harlem, he is a effin' crook.

Okay gang, all join me in my new civil rights song, sung to the melody of We Shall Overcome. Here is

We Shall Come Over

We shall come over
We shall come over
We shall come over to whine

He’s a crook, but that’s fine
I’m glad he’s mine.

We shall come over to whine!
