In the weeks, days and hours leading up to the season 11 finale, the big debate among Dancing with the Stars fans was how did Bristol Palin outlast contestants like Brandy and Audrina Patridge, whose ballroom skills were superior? But in the minutes that followed Monday night's performance show, it was clear inside the ballroom that Palin was just as deserving as Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey of a shot at the mirror ball trophy.
So who will win? It's anybody's guess, judge Carrie Ann Inaba told PEOPLE backstage after the broadcast.
"If ever there was a season that's hard to predict I think it's this one," Inaba said, acknowledging that it isn't the first one in which fan votes are influencing who advances in the competition. "I wish the judges' scores carried more weight. But America always gets it right."

Bet that the DNC will watch too ;-)
Show will set a ratings record.
Bristol will win, and Lefty pundits will go nuts.
This show just may end up being historic...kinda like the "Who shot JR" episode of 'Dallas'...only with political overtones.
I predict Kyle will win after all is said and done.
I don’t really care, but Kyle was good last night.
Jennifer Grey has studied dance since childhood. She got her start in show business in commercials as a dancer. She has a famous choreographer/actor father. She has an unfair advantage in a competition that is supposed to be about “becoming a dancer”. I liked her in Dirty Dancing, but her being on this show is not right.
Agreed. I don’t watch the show, but if all that is true, then she is a pro, not an amateur, by anybody’s definition. She should have been disqualified from the beginning..............
I don't watch this show, but I caught one episode a week or two ago when my wife had it on. I was thinking the same thing and asked my wife at the time why Palin was competing against an actress who had made a career out of dancing.
I then voted for her as many times as I could on every phone and computer in the house. It is a good thing to have Madcow’s head explode.
Limbaugh was chuckling yesterday, but didn’t outright say it...
I got what he was referring to -
this is going to come down to Kyle vs Bristol. “The black guy” vs the daughter of America’s current leading conservative.
And if she wins, it “proves the country’s still racist”.
Jennifer Grey is a one-hit wonder - and she was supposed to win this season as a sympathy vote for Patrick Swayze. She is such a neurotic drama queen, it shows through her technique, which is sharper and more daring than the others. Poor Derek Hough. I bet he takes a vacation when he is done with her.
No drama queen with Bristol- just a naive honest self-effacing girl who has to deal with “haters” simply because of who her mother is. The judges have been very gracious to her.
Personally I hope Kyle wins. Tootsie Roll! Yeah!
That is a possibility. I believe Bristol picked Kyle as the big winner a couple weeks ago.
After his dance last night, he deserves it. He was very entertaining.
I had no idea this has been going for 11 seasons. I will probably watch this one.
Dial Idol has
1. Jennifer & Derek
2. Bristol & Mark
3. Kyle & Lacey
2&3 are within the margin of error, so it’s too close to call.

I think Palin’s being rewarded for who she is (not a Palin but everything else). She’s garnering the teen vote in a big way... wait... this isn’t Idol.
and she thinks and acts like everyone loves her....just watched last night for 1st time....I found her to be soo arrogant!
Besides, Jennifer is a whiny “b”.
Bristol has already won, even if she comes in third. She wasn’t eliminated early on.
I wouldn’t have a problem if Kyle won.
With that, ABC will turn off the phone lines and the website so it goes the way they want it too. I had tons of problems getting into both last night.
Bristol is a winner whether she wins the competition or not.
If many are voting and like Bristol, what will they do in 2 years when they may be 18?
Hmmmm..... Crazy like a Fox if Mama thought through this one.....
I got tired of listening to Jennifer complain about her injuries.
Since I do not follow anything in Hollywood, and only heard of DWTS about three years ago, I didn't know Jennifer was just another Hollywood hack.
Too bad; another bubble busted.
GO BRISTOL!
~snip~
TONIGHTS LEADER BOARD TOTALS:
Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough: 30 + 30 = 60
Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer: 27 + 29 = 56
Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas: 27 + 25 = 52
Tuesdays season 11 finale will send one couple home early on, leaving the final two couples to dance two dances their favorite ballroom dance and a new Instant Dance to a Cha Cha Cha.
The People article says that all three couples will dance two more dances.
I give her kudos for having the guts to put herself out there. She certainly puts effort into learning as she does quite well with technique. She just needs to learn to let go and have fun with it. She’s too reserved emotionally to be a good dancer.
That count hasn’t moved since 10:00PM Central last night.
It’s way off.
I had to try and sign up last night. After the website ‘processed my request’ for 45 minutes I gave up. I noticed this moring now that it signed me up twice, so I went and voted 10 times. I’ve never watched the show, but I love to see the liberal talking heads explode.
Sure....your wife was watching it.....I have this vision of Seinfeld hooked up to a lie detector trying to say he didn't watch "Melrose Place."
The only way I would watch it is if North Korea attacked Dancing with the Stars.
Jennifer Grey is a professional and the best dancer of the three.
Bristol got this far on effort and popularity.
Kyle will win because it’s the politically correct thing.
You can keep registering and voting 5 times for each email address. Even my dog got a vote in this twice (10 votes), so she too could make a liberal head spin.
The judges scores and caller votes do nothing to determine the winner. The producers of the show sit down every week and decide who is staying and who is going. It is about entertainment and having the right mix of contestants to get the highest viewership.
They have done it masterfully this season and will insure that the right person wins to be able to go into next season with even a bigger audience.
If the show were ‘completely’ fair, and the contestants were all equally matched...
NO ONE WOULD WATCH THE SHOW.
But, if they did, who would be watching the show? If Bristol Palin had been eliminated early, you wouldn't be the only one not watching DWTS.
As they say in HOLLYWOOD, the only BAD PUBLICITY, is NO PUBLICITY.
They had Brandi and there are plenty of second and third tier celebs and sports figures to choose from. A professional dancer is a ringer...................
Hmmm... I disagree.
I think she is being rewarded(not being eliminated) because keeping her on has drawn a record audience, and record amount of phone-in votes.
DWTS is not about DANCING, not about STARS, it's about selling laundry detergent.
The more of an 'audience' the more money the shows producers make. Everything is engineered along those lines, including WHO the producers(via the judges) pick to stay on the show.
I do not think so.
If anything, ABC is adding more phone lines and staff to handle the incoming traffic. This handling of the call in VOTE is very carefully monitored and controlled. ABSOLUTELY no CHEATING is allowed. The figures MUST BE ACCURATE.
Because every VOTE is money in their pocket. The the key to getting more people to watch the show and call in votes is to evaluate which contestants produce the most viewers/votes (especially is there is some 'controvery' involved).
Simply picking the best performers is boring, and loses audience attention rather quickly.
In my opinion, you are spot on. That is exactly what is happening.
Best comment of this thread.
I thought I read that Brandi had pro experience.
Brandi against Jennifer .... wouldn’t that just be two pros against each other?
Bristol is still on the show, because it is drawing more viewers/voters..... MORE MONEY for the PRODUCERS.
The next round of DWTS will just feature someone else to provide the controversy, and thus the audience.
For all who are drawn into this particular bout of fencing, MILK IT FOR ALL IT’S WORTH.
THEY set up the rules, THEY created the GAME, THEY picked the candidates. That we can use it towards our own ends must irritate the heck out of the liberals.
There was a thread here the other day that said DWTS was scouting for a lesbo couple next season.
Yuck, I won’t be watching.
yeah - i tire of the suspicious conspiracy theories found in virtually every post on FR - but alas I keep coming back. Palin’s staying on because she’s getting the votes.
Even my dog got a vote in this twice (10 votes), so she too could make a liberal head spin.
Depending on how you’re set up, even a different computer in the same house will have the same IP address to the outside world.
LOL!
The video is a bit jerky, but here is that clip on youtube.
