George H.W. Bush: Romney’s my favorite in 2012

Short of a crown physically being placed on Mitt’s head, this is as close as we’re likely to get to an official coronation of him as the establishment choice in the primaries. I was giggling while watching it, trying to imagine his reaction as the most RINO-y president of modern times gives him a very public thumbs up, but actually this shouldn’t hurt much. The base is already lost to him thanks to RomneyCare, so the best he can hope for now is to consolidate his position among centrists/anti-Palinists. And the Bushes did him a major solid on that front: Not only do they both talk him up, but when pressed on other candidates they like, they mentioned only Pawlenty, Haley Barbour, and Bobby Jindal (who almost certainly isn’t running). The omission of Mitch Daniels, a potential genuine threat to Romney, is conspicuous given Daniels’s service in Dubya’s administration. I wonder if that was mere absent-mindedness or a deliberate snub. Ah well. No mystery, though, as to why they failed to mention Palin; Barbara’s contempt for her, in particular, is obvious.

Incidentally, now that we’ve got the Bushes sniping at her and Karl Rove criticizing her show and her fans, does that make this hotly disputed Daily News piece from earlier this month any more credible? Palin supporters bristled at the idea that Dubya might have been privately critical of her, but I’m not sure why. Tea partiers are forever reminding us that the movement is as much a reaction to Bush 43 as it is to Obama; if the man behind TARP and years of ballooning deficits doesn’t think much of Palin, that only proves her conservative cred, no?

George, try jumping out of a plane again,...without a chute! This is an example of the announcer’s curse: “He hasn’t been sacked all season,.............oh my God they just broke his leg as they sacked him for a 22 yard loss”

It has been obvious for some time now that the establishment is going to try to make Romney the GOP nominee.

The less bickering we do on here about all the candidates the better. Romney, besides being a horrible candidate cannot beat Obama. This time, let us pick the candidate and to hell with the fake polls, the establishment and the media who will try to force Romney on us.

They will try to divide conservatives and it will be to our detriment if we don’t pick someone early, hang tough and fight against the machine.

If she runs, I pick Sarah.

After Barbara’s Palin - bashing remarks, could this be far behind???

Neither one’s opinion will help whom I vote for.

Perhaps McDonnel in Virginia? Chris Cristie? I’d take either of those guys over Romney or Palin.

McDonnel is a non-starter and Christie is weak on immigration. Of all the conservatives, only Sarah reveres the Constitution. Anyone who reads Sarah's book with an open mind, can't help but conclude she is a true conservative with a strong belief in limited government.

Even though the LSM and Rinos will fight Sarah tooth and nail, I can see her boldly rolling back the EPA in a big way. Many others mentioned only give lip service to limited government. Sarah is a fighter all the way.

Totally shocking!!! (Is there an EXTREME SARCASM tag I can use)

Romney has been the RINO’s choice since for 2012 since the day Obama was elected. GHWB should shut up and keep kissing up to Clinton, it seems to be the one thing he’s really good at.

IS it possible Bush knew a support for Romney would kill his chances, and he isn’t really G W’s choice at all....Bush knows how he was condemned and whatever he wanted they rebelled against.

I would be suspicious, since he never wants to criticize Obama openly, so why would he pat Romney on the back for upcoming 2012?

The Aristocrats want to rule over us.

Mitt is the closest thing available. His momma probably made him wear knickers when he was a toddler. It’s all so predictable....

The blue-blood Bushes have wrecked this country since they succeeded Reagan.

Romney should go down in flames in the primary.

He did poorly last time. Now that he is better known, he will do even worse.

Go back and study the 1980 presidential primary and that is all you will need to know about Bush 41 and where he stands.
