The Republican Wave Isn’t Quite Finished Yet
Hot Air ^ | NOVEMBER 23, 2010 | JIMMIE BISE, JR

Of all the stories of the great Republican wave election of 2010, one of the stories that didn’t get wide play is just how dominant the GOP was in state elections. Republicans claimed a record 680 state legislative seats around the country, 52 more than the old record, set by Democrats in 1974 and 208 more than they picked up in the 1994 Gingrich Revolution. The right now controls both chambers of 26 state legislatures.

And the hits just keep coming. In the past couple of weeks, at least 11 Democratic state legislators have switched sides — one in South Dakota, one in Maine, , one in Louisiana, two in Georgia, and four in Alabama. In Louisiana, the switch gives Republicans control of one house of the government for the first time since Reconstruction; in Alabama, the Republicans control both houses for the first time since 1874.

The obvious reason these wins are important is that 44 states will start redrawing their Congressional districts next year. Many of the states in the South now controlled by Republicans will pick up House seats and few of them will be inclined to treat Democratic incumbents well. The lines drawn next year could help cement Republican control of the house not only in 2012 but perhaps for the next decade or more.

This switch may be necessary because the P. and his communist cohorts may be planning to stage a coup against the American people and therefore it is the states job to throw off the DC pols and declare the states as individual sovereign states. It was the states that created central government in America and they have the power to destroy evil central government. There is a time to gather stones together.
The states must stand together against the hostile evil communist democrats of America or the nation will be destroyed.

52 more than the old record, set by Democrats in 1974

Wow...more than the Watergate era. That MUST be causing the Anointed One to reach for his tranquiizers a little more often.

Here in NH, our House went from 225-175 Dem to 298-102 Rep and the Senate went from 14-10 Dem to 19-5 Rep. We got both of our seats in congress back, too, and easily held Judd Gregg’s (retiring) Senate seat with Kelly Ayotte. We couldn’t get rid of the Dem governor, though :(

Since Nov 2, four white democrats in the Georgia House have switched to the GOP bringing the GOP number to 113 vs 67 Democrats. 120 is 2/3s but we expect the numbers have pretty well topped out now. Having said that, the GOP didnt even get a majority until the 2004 election in the GA House, 2002 in the GA Senate. There is talk that one Democrat Senator may switch. Currently the breakdown in the Senate is 35 Republicans, 21 Democrats, 38 being 2/3s. The Democrats have become the party of African Americans in Georgia and their numbers are such here that there is no chance they can elect statewide without many white votes. Every statewide office in Georgia this year went to the GOP. The tide rolls on.

Well duh-RINO McCain called the Tea Party Movement a revolt not a revolution.
The British Loyalists (early American RINOs) called 1773 a revolt—they changed their minds on 1776.

Three years from revolt to revolution—I think we can beat that by a year—2010 to 2012—and if the RINOs keep drinking the MSM kool-aid (Lugar)they will be on the bench when we finally overthrow the tyranny of King George Obama.

Correction: 6 white Democrat GA House members have switched since Nov 2.

Yup. Those were little noticed wins. A lot of the seats the Democrats have left are simply going to disappear. They will lucky to hold the 190 they have now after the 2012 election.

Same thing in other Southern states. The Democrats have become a minority party. And that party is out sync with Southern values.

Well, this is why the democrats held the house for so long from 1930 to 1994. They controlled the processes in the states for all those years. Only in 1946 and 1952 did the republicans win majorities, only to lose them two years later.

We’re now seeing a shift in the other direction. It started in 2002 (remember the redistricting in Texas when the democrats left the state and stayed in hotels to prevent a quorum). 2012 will be very interesting.

The timing of this tidal wave is extremely fortuitous. I'm certain the dims had plans to manipulate the census figures for reapportionment and gerrymandering of districts to gain seats, but with the GOP in a strong position, they won't be able to get away with their shenanigans.

Here in CO, the Democrats sued to overturn the GOP plan and got the Supreme Court to set up more favorable districts for them. That’s how they took over the statehouse and Congress here in 2006.

I would not be so sure-

In Minnesota- there is -ABSOLUTE FRAUD- in the voting
process- The dufus RINo’s in this state have never done
anything to rectify the - 100% voting (all democrats)
the multiple voting, the no I.D.!- etc.

Rino’s work hand in hand with the Demons to keep in power-
why would anyone accept a Demon who just LOST an election
to walk across the aisle— and start again to write laws!!

The deceiving criminal politicians are the root cause of all of our misery. 2010 shows that we are waking up. Onward to 2012. Identify the criminal (who). Isolate the criminal (shine the truth on their deceptive practices so others can see). Eliminate the criminal. (vote...it’s easy)

Life, liberty and the pursuit and destruction of totalitarians.

Another task that needs to begin is clean out the voter roles. That includes throwing in prison all the rats who set up the illegal voting.
