Korean news is saying they expect the death toll to rise.

I wish they had long shots so we could see the size of the damaged area. This is often a problem when pictures are presented of a damaged area. We get a bunch of close-ups that don’t permit sizing up the overall damage.

“Obama’s limp reaction will only hasten the day when China attacks Taiwan, they see a weak leader and now know they have nothing to fear”

______________________________________________________________________________

The PRC Army General Staff are looking forward to the day
when American Manufacturers will pay them like mafia bagmen, to keep thier hands off Taiwan. It’s probably
already happening.

American manufacturers have become like the chinese opium
dealers of the old west. “Come to the tent and get high!”
American consumers are more than willing to go.

Even if it destroys their jobs. SAD.

I think they’ll delay giving an actual death count. To do so would insite further pressure to respond militarily, still these photos make it clear this was a deliberate act of war.

I don’t think it really worked the last time, either.

From GHWBush, to Clintoon, to GWBush, to Obama

the North Korean dictators have:

(1) played rope-a-dope diplomacy, winning every round, having given up NOTHING (nothing that concerns THEM);

(2) learned, as an honest time-line would show, that they can become more brazen in their actions and, substantially, suffer ZERO consequences;

(3) increased, year by year, the chances that sooner or later THEY WILL over-play their hand;

4) while our actions have done NOTHING other than prolong that day to a time when:

(a) we will be less willing to admit how bad it really is, and
(b) China will be more able and more willing to again back North Korea in its aggression and regardless of the clear evidence that that aggression was unprovoked.

What GHWBush, Clintoon, GWBush and Obama have demonstrated is that one never discussed form of surrender is to DO ALL THOSE THINGS THAT AMOUNT TO DOING NOTHING.

I haven't been able to follow this story closely, so I don't know all of the details.

The first report I heard is that the shelling lasted 3 hours. Why didn't the South Koreans take out the ships or artillery units that the firing came from?

“And why isn’t this an act of war against South Korea?”

Both countries are already at war and have been since the 50’s.

We call the Korean War the forgotten war, but Americans should learn and reflect on that bit of history in order to better understand the current events there.

Indeed- that little peace treaty that was never signed is still significant. The war “ended” the year I was born and we learned a lot about it in school- back when they taught actual American history in school ;)

This shelling is a reminder to ROK of what NK can do to Seoul in 24 hours.

“This shelling is a reminder to ROK of what NK can do to Seoul in 24 hours.”

Nothing like a little dose of reality to focus the South Korean mind, eh?
