Other than that, why are people getting stuck on the term “Asian” for Middle Easterner? Brits use lots of terms that are far different from US English.
Lorry for truck, lift for elevator, petrol for gasoline, jumper vs sweater, rubbish vs garbage. Knickers even. This isn’t the first British word that seems far different than it’s US English counterpart. I would keep that in mind.

No, Britain uses a different term for Asian people than we do. Our “Asian” is their “Oriental”. Our “Middle Eastern” is their “Asian”. It is not like they are trying to hide under the term. When British people see the term “Asian”, they clearly know this means people from the Middle East. When they see the term “Oriental”, they know this means people from Japan, China, Korea, & etc. Their words are just different from ours. It is not like they are lumping Middle Easterners in with people from east Asia. They just use different terms for the two groups of people than we do.
I hope I'm not misunderstood for what I'm about to say, but the BNP are neo-Nazis. One doesn't have to be a neo-Nazi to be opposed to multiculturalism, just as one doesn't need to be a Communist to be opposed to "injustice."
Many of the "far right" European groups one hears about in the news are actually pro-islamic and anti-Israel.

When I read these articles I always wonder why the girls don’t run away from strange men offering them “presents”. Hasn’t anyone told these girls not accept things from strangers? Hasn’t anyone told these girls that “Asians” are their enemies? Where are the girls parents?
To them this term ALWAYS means South Asians ~ Hindus, Sikhs, Moslems, East Africans and so on.
The American usage is different.
