This might have something to do with the One-Child rule giving rise to pampered, spoilt brats.

Consumer price inflation rose by an annual 4.4% in October, the highest for two years, and well above the government's 3% target in large part due to more expensive food. The Beijing News reported that colleges and universities in the capital had been barred from increasing prices, while education authorities in Shanxi province asked schools to provide meals costing just 1 yuan (10p) to pupils from poorer families. Price controls!!! Yeah, that will do the trick.

Typical presstitute, giving useless information, but not the key facts.
It does no good whatsoever to know that the price rose “.5 yuan (5p)” without knowing the original price.
Was this a 0.5%, 5%, 50%, or 500% increase? Are the students forced to pay for the meals, or can they bring their own food?
Where is the “this is important news worth wasting ink on” ‘hook’?
