Three more bills met Gov. Ed Rendell's veto pen, including one that would have expanded a person's self-defense rights to use deadly force in certain circumstances outside their home or car. The self-defense bill would have expanded Pennsylvania's so-called "Castle Doctrine" and offered immunity against civil lawsuits in certain cases.

The Dems have Rendell, we have the Huckster. Two peas in a pod. Both pro criminal, anti victim.

When you describe something as “stupid” you should be prepared to defend your “analysis” (such as it is).

Perhaps you have no idea at all as to what the Castle Doctrine is about.

The ball is your court.

Not in that race for governor apparently...

Trolling??? Get real...I’m an observer with surgical skills that draw out folks like you and yer buddy there to react...

But since you and yer buddy reacted incorrectly, and instead of making a mature, objective analysis of what I was really getting at...Then I can say that I was right, Pennsylvania cannot get it done when it counts...

That really is not your fault, but the proof is in the pudding...

All I know is you have a governor that doesn’t understand the moral and unalienable right that is afforded to you and yer buddy there, that self defense is a right instilled by an authority higher than any government instituted amoung men...

If you as an elected official, candidate or citizen of that community do not have a basic understanding of that concept and are willing to go to the mat for it...Then it IS a shame...Some people, might even go so far as to say we have no use for ya...But I believe in people to do what is right eventually...

Lets see what else you came up with here...I see you couldn’t get it done in one post, but hey...I’m open to see what you have to say...

Ain’t that nice of me...

It was stupid.

Rendell waited until the legislative session ended before vetoing a bill that passed the legislature by an overwhelming veto-proof margin.

When this passes next year -- and a veto-proof margin will not be needed since Corbett is expected to be willing to sign it -- Pa. will have a stand-your-ground law much better than most states by far.

So it is pretty stupid to diss Pa on this.

I wouldn’t vote for Huckabee but I won’t go that far! Huck at least is a good conservative on social issues while “Fast Eddy” scores a ZERO in my book in ALL categories!

How could Pennsylvanians NOT want to defend themselves?

Glad I don’t live there.

Session is over. Margin doesn’t matter. Bill has to be reintroduced.

Then this is one hell of a parting shot...Whats the new guy say about this???

I am truthfully curious to know...Does your state law allow an incoming governor to un-veto this veto???

Obviously the people and their elected officials thought well enough to vote in the affirmative to pass this law...All Ed had to do was suck it up and sign it...

But hey, that politics...

If the issue is THAT important, as it should be, then I figure there would be two people here right now that should be burning up phone lines and getting the Keystone State all fired up about this starting Monday morning...

I was illuding to, and doing so in a subtle way, implying that Pennsylvania doesn’t have it in them to press the issue...

Prove me wrong...Take back your state, and not just at election time...

I’ll support you 150% in the effort...Raising hell does not mean you are NOT being law-abiding...

Your job was not over a few weeks ago...

I’m feeling pretty optamistic, I think y’all can do it...But don’t waste yer time on an “idiot” like myself...What the hell do I know, right???

Good luck...

No need to worry. The adults are in charge again. Along with signing this he will eliminate the stupid state stores. There is no reason for me having to by my liquor from the Gov't.

Yep...That is right...

But wouldn’t everyone agree it is not ALL about election results...

Follow-thru is pretty important if you ask me...

Does the Pennsylvania legislature sit continuously??? IIRC I think they do...I stand to be corrected...

Wouldn’t it be nice to have the politicians step aside after working furiously for only about 4 months every other odd year??? Get the states business done in only that timeframe...And only pay them (officially) pitance for their efforts...

Almost kinda makes it improbable that any special interests have time enough to screw the pooch to scrogg the workings of state business, almost...

I’m actually interested in seeing how this one turns out...

The state stores have always been a huge financial feather for the PA rat machine. Governor Corbett has already made it clear what he intends to do with them. A very smart move on his part to move on their financial base as soon as he takes office.

GREAT QUESTION! According to Ed and his ilk, the potential victims of violent crimes should not defend themselves but be passive and submit with minimal resistance. Maybe Ed thinks this is a proper course of action because if one defends one self and injures the criminal perpetrator one will be sued by the ACLU! Good Lord! We need a George Orwell for the 21st century!

I guess only when we law-abiding citizens repeal the Second Amendment, surrender our lawful firearms, and make him feel safe again. /SARC.

I lived in PA for several years and was born there. Don’t confuse what some far-Left, big city politicians want with the what the ordinary citizens want!

To the best of my knowledge it could be repealed. But I don’t know all the dynamics of PA law - whether it would require two-thirds vote of the legislature, etc. But I think the best thing going for us is that the majority of the people OPPOSE Rendell’s lame duck “Farewell, —— You!” legacy. IMHO, Rendell made a fatal political error - he overreached in his last lame duck days and turned the voters against him by this extreme act of desperation.
