The articles published today and in coming days are based on thousands of United States embassy cables, the daily reports from the field intended for the eyes of senior policy makers in Washington. The New York Times and a number of publications in Europe were given access to the material several weeks ago and agreed to begin publication of articles based on the cables Sunday online. The Times believes that the documents serve an important public interest, illuminating the goals, successes, compromises and frustrations of American diplomacy in a way that other accounts cannot match.

Clearly the NYT and others publishing the WikiLeaks material are guilty of the crime of treason as defined in Article III Section 3 of the Constitution, as well as in violation of the Sedition Act, and the Espionage Act. The Postmaster General is authorized to impound the information under the Espionage Act.
If the US Government does not order the censoring and impounding of the information, then one can only conclude that the Obama Administration is complicit in the crime. If that is the case, the House needs to get busy on impeachment of the Administration urgently.
The self righteous self appointment of the NYT to ascertain which cables would represent a threat to the US, and/or to individuals who would be compromised in the release of the cables is beyond comment.
WHO the hell is the NYT? Are they a branch of CIA or NSA. It is virtually impossible to determine the fallout of the private revelations of world leaders, especially as regards Iran and nuclear material in Pakistan, just for starters. There are a lot of people in the world in great danger tonight, and many are friends of the US.
The additional inanity of the NYT is their statement that “they’ve asked WikiLeaks to consider the same redactions of text in the cables to protect individuals” This is beyond any belief and the NYT should be shut down, period.

The NYT is no better than that little bastard in Austrailia, there is only one problem and a huge difference. The editor of the New York Times was born on American soil and he should have hell to pay for this. This is treason pure and simple.
I don’t even like Obama’s work. But it doesnt matter what decade or if the President was Lyndon Johnson or Ronald Reagan...this is hurtfull to all of us and doing this to your own country is evil.
They assist the traitors in disseminating the information in an easy to digest format and as well assist our enemies by employing their staff in sifting through, sorting, indexing, and categorizing the information. By default what they omit and or assert was redacted is the first stuff enemies will seek...

You know I have just been skimming the headlines about all these leaks and so far they seem to be making the big ZERO look like a total dope, so I have mixed feelings on the matter :)
Just going through the list:
-he had till end of 2010 to hit Iran
-even the Saudis wanted iran hit
-iran has advanced missles from N. Korea (hmm axis of evil anyone) and denied by ZERO
-everyone knew China was behind much of the cyber attacks - now its official
all in all looking good for exposing just what a dismal job ZERO has done for America.

I’m sorry both that you apparently did not understand my point and that you dismiss the concept of hypocrisy, although that probably helps you sleep better at night.
The leaked information has been widely disseminated, by the New York Times as well as numerous other outlets. At this point, much of it has either been posted or linked here on Free Republic.
As appalled as we may be that this has been done, we have become willing participants by reading and commenting. We, Free Republic and its members, are spreading the information, just like the Times did.
Perhaps you are right in suggesting that this is not hypocrisy. Perhaps, in helping disseminate this material and thus failing to live up to the virtue that we demand of others, we are inwardly struggling to be better than those whom we criticize.
But I doubt it.
And any information on their “secret” contacts they may have.

Prince Torki said that this issue had caused a lot of difficulties and embarrassment for Saudi Arabia, to the degree that Foreign Minister Saud Al-Faisal will raise this with the Secretary in London on January 27. Prince Torki said that Saudi Arabia was not upset about the regulation itself, as it recognized the U.S. right and obligation to protect its citizens. The issue, rather, was inclusion on the list with the likes of Cuba, which causes Saudi Arabia's friends and enemies to question how strong its bilateral relationship with the United States really is. Prince Torki said it is very hard to explain to the Saudi public why they are included on this list, despite not being the origin of the December 25 flight, while other countries that have had recent terrorist incidents on planes, like the UK, Egypt and Turkey, are not. Prince Torki said that Saudi Arabia had been shocked to be included on the list. He noted that Saudi Arabia had been told these provisions would only be temporary, and said Saudi Arabia would like to know how and when they will be amended, implying that the longer they remained in effect without any public explanation from the USG, the more it was likely to prompt the Saudi Government to re-evaluate areas of cooperation, including counter-terrorism cooperation. A/S Feltman promised to convey the spirit and strength of the message, and invited any specific Saudi suggestions to address the security gap regarding nonmetallic explosives exploited in the December 25 incident.

Doesn’t appear that it will happen this way. From the article:
“WikiLeaks has shared the entire archive of secret cables with at least four European publications, has promised country-specific documents to many other news outlets, and has said it plans to ultimately post its trove online.”
So far the docs are available at wiki's site for those interested in reading them without the NYT's filter.
Not much is released yet... some of it is interesting.
