251,000 State Department documents, many of them secret embassy reports from around the world, show how the US seeks to safeguard its influence around the world. It is nothing short of a political meltdown for US foreign policy.

Agreed. And I don’t believe for a second that Bradley Manning leaked all of this information by himself.
Aren't we lucky?
This is what you get when you choose emotion over substance and DEMONSTRATED character and experience!!
Where will this “O” fiasco leave us?
I wonder how the Media is going to run and help their wonder boy Obama now? Somehow they will make this all about Bush..... I am already hearing snippets about how this is caused because Bush made all the departments share information after 911... .This will be the lefts excuse mark my words...
If republicans fail to hold Obama accountable over this then they will become the whipping boys for it.
I think.... well, I can’t say what I actually think... but it involves:
Soon to meet an untimely end
maybe three months
okay, probably less than three months...10 days?
Anyone want to start a pool?
I feel so much better knowing these people run our country. :(:(:(:(:(:(
This is Smart Diplomacy at its best.
Someone on another website said that in Holland, they are saying that a US soldier leaked the info. I can’t imagine that a US soldier would have that high a security clearance, but I was curious. So I went online to read news in the Netherlands.
Although this has nothing to do with wikileaks, and it’s over two years old, I certainly found it interesting and scary!
Radical Imam Works for Defence Ministry
THE HAGUE, 23/05/08 - A radical Islamic preacher has been hired by the government as a computer expert. Jamal A., alias Abu Ismail, thus gained access to the ICT network of the defence ministry, De Telegraaf reported yesterday.
The preacher is associated with the As-Soennah mosque in The Hague. He serves as right-hand man to its controversial Syrian Imam Jneid Fawaz who cursed filmmaker Theo van Gogh shortly before he was assassinated in November 2004.
Abu Ismail has confirmed that he regularly carries out work for various government organisations on a temporary basis, according to De Telegraaf. “I have worked not just for Defence, but also for other government institutions.”
His work for the computer centre of Defence is said to have led to an investigation by the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD), after which the preacher was removed, the newspaper reported.
Yep. How much time do you give the other guy?
I fully believe that Obama wants all this “leaked” whether he publicly admits it or not because the outcome is the diminishment of the United States stauture and a move to a one-world order of business.
Note, I'll believe that wikileaks is impartial when they leak out Obama's long form birth certificate, his college records, and his original manuscript for his book.
Imagine if someone leaked Putin’s or Hu’s secret documents. Or Chavez’s for that matter. He wouldn’t do it twice, for sure.
Can’t prove it, but my gut feeling is that 0bama did this, like Clinton declassified all the nuke bomb secrets. Somehow someone way up in the power tree thinks this is a good idea.
Exactly what I was thinking. How come there are no Russian cables here? Or Iranian-based cables, or some other thug regime?
Not until you explain wth you're talking about.
Fail, after fail, after MEGA-FAIL! on Obama’s watch.
This President has been a disaster for this nation.
“How come there are no Russian cables here?”
Vladmir would investigate the disappearance of the perp personally, and would express deep regret, like when the entire conservative wing of the Polish government went down in an airplane.
Same for Iranian secret documents.
Anybody knows you don’t mess with a superpower, and would not be looking at a jail term if caught. Or trial, for that matter.
It will be interesting to see how old this info is - it could be stuff from the Bush years and not recent items. Either way, somehow the folks that disclose this kind of stuff should be gone after and stopped.
Don’t you have to actually have a foreign policy to have it exposed?
How long do you think that the people who released this information will survive?
Until their natural deaths.
and what has their survival rate to do with a ‘gay tiff’ that you mentioned?
I'll take (Apparent)suicide in 90 days.
Because Wikileaks only had one source (Manning, an American).
do your own research
Nope, if you can’t explain your own post, I’m not going to try and figure out your thought process. Have a good day, though.
Someone here just suggested that it is telling that it is the STATE DEPARTMENT that is in meltdown. Prolly lots of dirt on Hillary! in there. This could very well remove that man’s challenge from the left. It is right out of his senate campaign play book.
“How does a government allow secret docuements to be posted on the internet?
It hasn’t been that long ago that someone would have been tried for treason and shot for such an offense.”
Allow is the key word, I think. This took some work and coordination to pull off.
This isn't the Clinton WH and I think that the F.O.B. (Friend's Of Bill) operators that shuffled over 110 souls off the planet are sitting this one out. They don't want Obozo to succeed and moreover, they know he and his cohorts are too stooooopid to get away with this stuff for very long. When the fall happens, the accompanying FALL OUT is going to be long, wet and smelly. Nobody who knows what they're doing is going to want to be anywhere near this idiot when the lids start getting ripped off. It's kind of like the reason they called the old WWII Flattops (aircraft carriers) "Bomb Magnets."
> Look at all these wonderful diplomatic, and statecraft achievements on the O watch!!!
We should go to the Wikipedia and create an article named “List of the Obama administration’s foreign policy achievements”, and leave it completely blank. In fact, if this comes out clickable;
that will do it.
Long enough to get a book deal
Has anyone seen any info that we DIDN’T ALREADY KNOW?
“It is nothing short of a political meltdown for US foreign policy.”
This could be a very true statement, however to whatever extent it is true (political meltdown) it will be due to how little foreign governments and foreign diplomats will trust that their dealings with the U.S. government will be secure, trusted, and held in the most strict confidentially - an atmosphere that invites diplomats to be more candid with each other than they can be publicly.
While publicly many will be upset about specific leaks, but more important to all of them is “how did the Obama admin allow this to happen in the first place”.
I imagine, from hear on in, Billary will get little candid cooperation from all those nations the U.S. sheeple have been told our relations have so vastly improved with under BHO-Billary.
Apart from the political disaster aspect...
I have been reading some of the accounts of what has been leaked and I have to say I’m unhappy about any Iraqui or Afghani operatives that may have been uncovered but.....
As for the diplomatic dance of bullsh*t- I’m glad its over. The Saudis? HaHa, watch your tent bro, it’ll be going up in smoke soon. All the European high nosed jerks? Now you know how even the U.S. leftist elite truly feel about you- Naked Emperors!
The funny thing is, to hear these dimmocrat foreign policy wonks talk in private, you’d think they were Republicans!
“The funny thing is, to hear these dimmocrat foreign policy wonks talk in private, youd think they were Republicans!”
They are just as much in the business of selling an appeasing side, in public, to foreigners - while they believe something else in private, as they are selling themselves to the domestic masses yearning for a new entitlement, while they insure the legislation for it greases enough of their own business, sectarian and political interests. The Dims are two faced in all they do because it’s all about power while they pretend its about selfless “public service”.
I wonder how many deals with foreigners for Billary will be scuttled by the leaks (Billary - the corrupt dynamic duo that peddles themselves - for some kind of compensation, now or later - as a single geopolitical influence selling enterprise).
I read somewhere on the internet earlier today or was it sunday, that Wikileaks consulted with THEWHITEHOUSE and OBAMA encouraged them not to release some records and yetWikkileaks released some records that Odumbo did not want leaked. ODUMBO is the source of all the leaks - it is part of his plan
I agree with that... the loons on the left have been trying to tear this country down for years.
It might not be the same guy, but I think you’re on the right track.
I worked for the airlines prior to 9/11 (retired now).
The guys who worked for the onboard kitchens didn’t speak English...the cleaners were also foreign...we had our suitcases and handbooks stolen from a “secured” area for months/years prior to 9/11.
Stolen items included our handbooks which contained layouts of planes, codes for every “secured” door in every city throughout the world, information where the cockpit keys were kept on every plane...
Made me sick to realize how easy it was to pull off the 9/11 attack after years of their planning..
And here the Netherlands employed a radical Muslim to work with defense information.
What is everyone thinking? ARGH!
Thanks for the ping!
That new diplomacy (Obama/Hillary Clinton) soft power isn’t working out so they thought they would kick-start the re-set button since they have failed so miserably. By releasing the documents, this administration hopes to show the world how bad America is, and by the token show how noble this administration has been. Go figure, a win-win for those who hate America and they can enhance their political standing at the expense of their political opposition, e.g., the military and conservatives.
...”I cant imagine that a US soldier would have that high a security clearance, but I was curious.”...
Young US soldier at center of WikiLeaks probe
...”As a low-ranking intelligence analyst, he had access to a vast archive of sensitive documents on the military’s classified computer network, SIPRnet or the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network.”.....
Sandy “pants and socks” Berger, for one. But somehow I don’t think it was him. And admittedly 250k is a big number to carry in your underwear.
