...the US government is arguing that it CAN use Shariah law to render its verdicts?

I guess it’s “separation of church and state” not “separation of mosque and state”....

The state of Oklahoma should simply assert its right to enforce the amendment. This is a state issue, and since the amendment doesn’t conflict with the U.S. constitution and actually supports it, the federal judge has no business sticking her nose into it.

State governments grow balls and refuse to listen to federal judges overreaching? Good luck on that...

Islam is subversive to the Constitution. In fact, Islam and its so-called “holy law” (shari’a) are the Constitution and Bill of Rights turned upside down. Islam joins together “church” and state to form a theocratic dictatorship. Saudi Arabia is a good example, where their “constitution” is the Koran, their law is shari’a, and all other (real) religious practices are banned. Islam should not be viewed as a true religion, since it promotes evil and barbaric violence against anyone who is not a Muslim, and any Muslim who rejects Islam. Islam belongs to the 7th century, not the 21st.

Hi ScottfromNJ, I hope all is well with you, my comrade in arms. I think when we get our “new” Republican Attorney General sworn in we just might do that.

Keep firing up Christie, he is a patriot!

The will of the people is what makes the law - unless some liberal judge doesn’t like the will of the people.

This has been going on for sometime. It is the result of turning our judicial system into that like the professional baseball world of farm clubs for lawyers. It goes all the way down to to the local and state levels-been there seen it. In my lifetime I’ve seen very few cases of competant ,trustworthy, and truly ethical men and women going to the top judicial positions. I know I’m cynical about our new generation lawyers but a review of lawyers in even the elective offices will show few are honorable. In today’s politics to have to refer to a judge as ‘your Honor’ is in itself a joke if not outdated.

In today's order, the judge wrote that Awad "has made a strong showing that State Question 755's amendment's primary effect inhibits religion and that the amendment fosters an excessive government entanglement with religion."

Huh? What's the judge been smoking?

With the House and Senate and Governor and LT Governor etc....in Republican hands, I believe they will enforce what the people of Oklahoma voted for (me being one of them).

Would it be a question of a State Consitution violating the Federal Constitution? At least from his point of view?

Hi Caribou, thanks for being a sentry. Don’t forget (I know you won’t) about our Repblican AG, Treasurer, Superintendent of Instruction (or whatever Barresi was elected to), Auditor, and even local dog catchers. Yes, my friend, it is time for Repubs to either sink or swim. I hope we swim.

I appreciate your reference to Mark Shannon in your tagline - a true patriot!
