This IS conservatism? Yeah sure.
Most carriers had already allowed children to stay on their parents plan to age 23 already..and some to age 25.
I have enrolled some children back onto their parents plan but they were hardship cases only. Kids in between jobs or a job with no insurance who had health conditions no carrier would accept.
Healthy kids are not going back onto their parants plan because ti is cheaper to buy an individual plan because of their age.
I can understand the 26 year old if you think about college and graduate and post graduate school.
If we are revitalizing the extended family with multiple generations around the daily dinner table it makes logic.
I would be fine with the OPTION to keep or add your kids to a policy up to 26 but it should not be mandatory. In this economic mess that BO has made infinitely worse I and a lot of people I know have adult children, usually single and are laid off or can’t find a steady job that either pays enough buy individual insurance or doesn’t offer any plan. Those in that type of situation will be on the dole anyway if they have to go in for any care so at least I could help them out for a period of time until they can get on their feet again.
Because many act like children! I wonder how many who are on their parents' insurance, are parents themselves. Will people soon have their grands on their insurance?
Some of this stuff is so pathetic that it would be laughable if not so serious!
