It's that season again, which means that for the third year in a row, the German Christmas Village has set up a cozy collection of wooden booths and tree vendors in Dilworth Plaza on the west side of City Hall.
But a few shoppers noticed something amiss yesterday on the tall metal archways signaling the entrances to the shops. The archways had just one word on top - "Village."
Sounds festive, eh?

Stay completely away from this place. Satan wants you to enter!
As someone of Polish heritage, I take offense to it being called German Village...
Someone should tell the city council about that “amish” guy who tried to bomb Portland’s secular-Christmas celebration last weekend.
Speechless. Tyranny of the minority.
“Where am I?”
“You’re in The Village.”
You are number 6.
Were you offended by the ‘Christmas’ sign at City Hall?

They take the word “Christmas” out of everything and then wonder why people stop thinking of Christmas as a holiday and don’t buy things. Retailers, especially, are killing themselves with political correctness. What they don’t understand is that people go to shopping districts to get in the mood of the holiday, not just as an excuse to binge buy. If there is nothing to get them in the mood or if the decorations become so detached from the holiday, no one is going to go there anymore.
We order you a merry Christ-miss!
We order you a merry Christ-miss!
We order you a merry Christ-miss!
And a Sucky New Year!
Did you notice the poll to the right of the article? Close to 94% polled were NOT offended by the word Christmas. Once again, a ruling to support the few nut jobs.
Who is number 1?
They insist that this is a “holiday season” and not about ONE specific holiday.
Except they kick off the “post-holiday” sales on December 26th. Not “post-holidays”.
And they admit the “post” period begins BEFORE New Year’s Eve which is one of the most celebrated nights of the whole year.
Numbnuts..
At least in Chicago, it’s still called the “Christkindle Mart.”
I suggest the HUGE number of people who are not offended by the word Christmas should call in to say they are offended by the existence of the market and demand that it be shut down completely!
