Camden will lay off nearly half of its police officers and a third of its firefighters while eliminating positions in every city office, according to a layoff plan approved Tuesday by the state.
The 383 total layoffs represent about a quarter of the city's work force, and touch all corners of city government, from 15 positions in the municipal court to 20 police dispatchers.

There goes the neighborHOOD. Camden has been a toilet for years WITH all those employees. What difference will it make?
It will make a great difference if your azz is hanging out the window of a 3 story building that is on fire and the closest fire station is closed.
This will cost lives at some point in time.
A police officer calling for back up with half the force gone.
It isn’t a pretty picture, but they will make do, Just hope it isnt’ a relative that pays the price.

Camden has been a dead city for years. No one’s gotten around to burying it. This isn’t going to make any difference.
Well you know what, folks have a way of adapting. Fire station closed? Start a volunteer company just like most small towns across the country do. As good as “career fire fighters” and a whole lot less cost.

Two things about Camden:
1. You don’t need any cops, because there are no innocents to protect.
2. If there’s one thing Camden desperately needs, it’s a roaring fire.
Amen,two sons that are Philly firefighters here.First day they did brown outs a child died.A child died.
Uh....have you been to Camden? Several jobs have required that I work in the city. It has large unihabited areas. It is blighted and deteriorating. If you had a relative there, if I had a relative there, my advice would be to pack up and leave.
Which is why you need to understand that good government needs to be nurtured and maintained. That is not happening in Camden.
Less taxes equal less deaths. People go to work in bad weather, to earn money to pay taxes. Snow, rain, long commutes. Fishermen have to go to sea twice as much, because half of their earnings have to go to direct and indirect taxes. People have to work construction in the winter, rain and snow to earn pay to pay taxes. Truckers drive longer, drive when tired to make miles to get paid to pay taxes. People drive cabs at night to pay taxes. Taxes kill.
This is good, and what needs to be done across the government board.
Those left, should be ready to take cuts in income and their government pensions....Just like everyone in the private sector has done.

Seriously, find Wake County in North Carolina. It’s eerily amazing how fast people are moving from places up North they messed up and are spreading their cancer.
With the layoffs of the cops, maybe crime will go down.
