They already did that back in Alice, Texas when I was a kid in the 50’s.
All stop signs had the words “STOP ALTO” on them. No exceptions. And that was back in the 50’s!
The joke back here in those days was “who is Alto?”

I really do wish we would go ahead and make it official that English is the (only) national language. If we don’t, I wouldn’t be surprised to see what you have stated coming true.
