Social Security cuts are part of deficit plan

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Divisions remain within President Barack Obama's deficit commission on politically explosive budget cuts and slashes in Social Security benefits, even as the panel's co-chairmen go public with a revised plan to tame the runaway national debt.

The new plan by co-chairmen Erskine Bowles and Alan Simpson, to be unveiled Wednesday, faces an uphill slog.

1) Get rid of illegals
2) Eliminate fat perks for teen moms

I heard a talking head on Fox this AM saying that cutting Social Security would have a short term negative effect. Short term? Do you really want a bunch of old geezers blocking traffic in Washington? The London and Paris rioting would be calm by comparison.

We need to go after dem groups to cut the deficit. That's what they do, they go after folks who support us.

Social Security? We should start with an investigation into inner city disability claims. What percentage of inner city families are on disability? Is it the new welfare? There's a reason the MSM doesn't look at the demographics... the numbers, the costs... the scams...

these aren't cuts. they are tweaks. real cuts: (1) eliminate the IRS, eliminate the TSA, eliminate the DOE, eliminate HUD, eliminate the BATFE, reduce congressional and WH staffs by 80%, reduce all remaining spending to 1990 levels. (2) prepare for round two of cuts. Cutting should be done with a machete, not a pair of tweezers and cotton gloves.

This sounds like a no-brainer to me. Anyone who has looked at this issue objectively over the last few decades could see that Social Security and Medicare are a demographic disaster in the making.

Don’t for get to add the UN and the IMF. We pay the UN, I think, $25 Million a year, plus $2.5 Billion on a volunteer basis. I just heard this, this morning.
