Today is the first day of Hanukkah, Chanukah and/or חנוכה the Jewish holiday that is spelled a hundred ways in English. Along with the joy of the holiday is the sadness that this minor holiday is continually hijacked by the ACLU and other liberal groups who have no idea what the holiday means.

Chanukah Somayach everyone! I'm making latkes RIGHT NOW! And they are THE REAL THING. I make them old school style, medium shred, just potatoes, onions (no stinkin zucchini and what not). They RULE! ;)
Mine look about like this and I serve them with lox and sour cream (also sour cream with onion soup mix mixed in.)

Nice crunchy outer shred on your lattkes! Both taste good but I prefer lattke with a dab of sour cream rather than apple sauce.
In my opinion lattkes fresh out of the oil should be quickly drained on paper towels or brown paper bags....Then some salt shaken on them to bring out the flavor. Then brought to the table to be devoured fresh and hot.
