‘Tequila Party’ proposal gains international attention

The idea of a "Tequila Party," which until recently was only quietly debated among Latino leaders, is now making a splash.

First reported Sunday by the Sun, the proposal has gained international attention and has been featured in news publications worldwide.

Latino leaders frustrated by Democrat’s inaction on immigration reform and fears that as a voting bloc they’re a political afterthought are discussing whether to sever their traditional Democratic ties and form an independent grass-roots political group.

They have talked about modeling the effort after the Tea Party, not in substance but in grass-roots organizational style, and have dubbed the proposed movement the “Tequila Party.”

Fernando Romero, president of the nonpartisan Hispanics in Politics, who has spoken with leaders in Nevada and nationally about the proposed effort, said he has been inundated by calls since he was featured in the Sun story.

Reporters from Fox News, the Mexican broadcasting station TV Azteca and even a Brazilian publication have asked Romero for interviews, he said.

Dozens of news organizations have followed up on the Sun story. A rewrite in the Huffington Post received more than 400 comments as of midday Monday.

"This Tequila Party thing has exploded," Romero said.

Socialist, leftist copycats with nothing in common with tea party principles.
That’ll work just fine.

Already a top-down gig. This proves they don't get it.

Yeah, the “Coffee Party” attracted “international attention” too and for the same reason. The leftists know that the Tea Party phenomenon spells their doom and they are throwing up as much gorilla dust as possible to try to distract us.

However, if they can run their own candidates in the west they will split off support for the democratic party and throw a lot of elections to the pubbies

Yes, this will be grassroots. Only if SEIU, UAW, United Gardeners and Ancillary Home Depot Displaced Undocumented Workers Unions will guarantee free bus and lunch service to ALL events - oops! forgot to add the Amigo 10 dollar/hour employment remuneration that goes will each event......

I think this is a great idea!! Let’s get all the illegals and subversives out in the open.
It will be easier to find them when we get a government willing to enforce immigration laws.

If your in the country illegally how can you be a powerful voting bloc that will send a message if amnesty isn’t passed? Silly me I always thought only citizens could vote.

This will never happen. Leaders in the Hispanic community know that their $$$$ depends on being a part of the Democrat party. This is similar to Sharpton or Jackson saying that African-Americans need to leave the Democrat party. That is laughable. No leaving the plantation!!!!

Calling themselves the "tequila"Party" isn't a very smart move either. Imagine if the Tea Party movement had self identified as the "Beer Party"

They said the same damn thing about the “coffee party” and despite pushing it with tons of free publicity, it went nowhere.

I personally prefer the “TACO” party. Not to be confused, however, with party taco.

I NEVER buy the party tacos because, durn it, I have to eat about 10 to get full.
