A brother of three men indicted last month on federal sex trafficking charges provided one of them access to restricted areas at the Nashville International Airport including in the cockpit of a plane.
The information came out during a hearing regarding the federal detention of Abdifatah Sharif Omar and Mohamed Sharif Omar Thursday in the U.S. District Court in Nashville.
The two, along with brother Liban Sharif Omar, are three of the 29 individuals — mostly from Minneapolis and Nashville — indicted in November on federal charges of sex trafficking involving juvenile girls.

Three gangs, the Somali Outlaws, the Somali Mafia and the Lady Outlaws, were based in Minnesota and have coordinated the trafficking of girls since at least 2000, according to court records.
The indictment didn’t provide many details about the victims. They were all Somali or African-American, and at least two of the girls were reported as runaways. Another would be picked up at high school in Minnesota and driven around town to have sex for money.
Several of the gang members would drive the girls around the St. Paul area and to Nashville, Seattle and Columbus, Ohio, according to the indictment. There, they would offer girls as young as 12 to men who would pay with money, drugs and alcohol. According to the indictment, gang members were allowed to have their ways with the girls at will.
